A dragonfly has come. 〜トンボがやって来た〜

Mommy: "Look, darling! A dragonfly flew into our tasting room!"

ママ：「パパ、見て！　トンボが、私たちのテイスティングルームに飛び込んできた！」

Daddy: "Oh, my! What are we going to do?"

パパ：「わあ！　どうする？」

Mommy: "Nothing. He is going to fly away soon. Until then, we just enjoy♪"

ママ：「どうもしないよ。すぐに飛んでいっちゃうから。その時まで、楽しませてもらいましょ♪」

Daddy: "It's interesting. That dragonfly is black."

パパ：「おもしろいなあ。あのトンボ、黒だよ。」

Mommy: "I wonder if the color of black means anything to do with the season. In Japan, when you see red dragonflies, it means fall."

ママ：「黒っていう色は、季節と何か関係があるのかしら。日本で、赤とんぼを見たら、秋っていう意味だけれど。」

Daddy: "I'm not sure."

パパ：「さあ、どうなんだろう。」

Ehime: "I'm a little shocked today, because the dragonfly was more popular than I am. I'm white, but I show up in the tasting room whatever the season is. Just for your information."

えひめ：「今日は、ちょっとショックでしゅよ。だってわたちより、トンボの方が人気がありまちたから。わたちは白でしゅけど、季節に関係なく、テイスティングルームには現れましゅから。ご参考までに。」

Before harvesting 〜収穫前〜

Deciding when to pick grapes is important for a winery to make the high quality wine. My husband and I went to Zinfandel vines this morning and pick some samples to see what their Brix & pH are.

ワイナリーにとって、高品質のワインを造るために、いつぶどうを収穫するかは重要なポイントです。主人と私は、今朝ジンファンデルが植わっている場所に行き、糖度やpHの具合を知るために、サンプルをいくつか取ってきました。

Mommy: "Can we taste the grapes?"

ママ：「ぶどうの味見をしてもいい？」

Daddy: "You are so about tasting. Sure, let me know what you think."

パパ：「ママは、味見ばっかりだなあ。いいよ。どう思うか聞かせて。」

Mommy: "Delicious♪"

ママ：「おいしい♪」

Daddy: "When you harvest, there are many different clusters picked together. Let's pick the good looking ones and also the second growth ones."

パパ：「収穫する時は、いろんな房が一緒に収穫されるんだ。サンプルには、いい房も、まだ成長が期待される房も一緒に取っていこう。」

Mommy: "OK."

ママ：「はい。」

At home　おうち

Daddy: "Let's see Brix... It's 24.4. It's lower than what we want. But looking at the weather forecast this week, I think the harvest should be in one week. What do you think, honey?"

パパ：「糖度を見てみよう‥‥　24.4か。期待しているより低いな。でも今週の天気予報を見ると、収穫は一週間後になりそうだ。ママはどう思う？」

Mommy: "I have to agree with you. We are going to have the warm weather until Wednesday, the sugar level still goes up."

ママ：「賛成よ。水曜日までは温かくなるから、糖度はまだ上がるわね。」

Ehime: "Sugar level... That sounds fantastic. I want the sugar level to go up on apples this year♪"

えひめ：「糖度‥‥　いい響きでしゅね。わたちは、今年のりんごの糖度が上がってくれるといいなあと思いましゅけど。」

Nail cutting with the new trimmer 〜新しいトリマーで爪切り〜

Ehime: "What kind of surgery is this?"

えひめ：「これは、何の手術でしゅか？」

Mommy: "It's not a surgery. Daddy is going to trim your nails with the new trimmer."

ママ：「手術じゃないよ。パパが新しいトリマーで、ひめたんの爪切りをしてくれるの。」

Daddy: "I read the instruction paper, so I should do fine♪"

パパ：「取扱説明書を読んだから、ちゃんとできるはずだよ♪」

Ehime: "......"

えひめ：「‥‥」

Daddy: "Now, let's do it!"

パパ：「さあ、やるぞ！」

Ehime: "I don't see, I don't see, I don't see... I'm not scared, I'm not scared, I'm not scared..."

えひめ：「見ない、見ない、見ない‥‥　怖くない、怖くない、怖くない‥‥」

(Buzzing)

（ブイーン）

Mommy: "I thought Ehime would run away, but she is actually doing well. And, darling. You are so good at doing it, darling."

ママ：「ひめたん、逃げるかと思ったけれど、ちゃんとがんばってるのね。パパも、本当に上手ね。」

Daddy: "Thank you."

パパ：「ありがと。」

Daddy: "Listen, Ehime. Mommy has a trauma from cutting the nails of Hailey. That was about 15 years ago. Now, we have the new trimmer that doesn't give you an emergency situation. Aren't you happy?"

パパ：「ねえ、えひめ。ママはね、ヘイリーの爪切りでトラウマができたんだ。あれは、15年くらい前だったかな。今では新しいトリマーができて、えひめを非常事態にしなくて済むから、幸せだろう？」

Ehime: "Umm... Well... I guess I'm happy."

えひめ：「あの‥‥　まあ‥‥　幸せかな。」

Mommy: "Let's get ready to clean Ehime. She has been walking on unpaved road, and I haven't washed her for two weeks."

ママ：「ひめたんをきれいにする準備をしよう。未舗装の道路を歩いてるけど、２週間ほどひめたんを洗ってないからね。」

Mommy: "Wow, you surprised me!"

ママ：「わあ、びっくりした！」

Ehime: "I thought you need me."

えひめ：「わたちがご入用かと思いまちて。」

Mommy: "You actually like to be cleaned, don't you?"

ママ：「本当はひめたん、きれいにされるの好きなんじゃない？」

Ehime: "Mgyu..."

えひめ：「むぎゅ‥‥」

Ehime: "Please rub harder there."

えひめ：「しょこは、よりゴシゴシとちてくだしゃい。」

Mommy: "You are so demanding."

ママ：「注文が多いわね〜」

Ehime: "Phew, it was hard to get cleaned."

えひめ：「ふう、きれいにしゃれるの、大変でちた。」

Mommy: "You actually looked like you were enjoying it."

ママ：「エンジョイしているように見えたけど。」

Layla 〜レイラちゃん〜

Ehime was born seven years ago. Her birth mommy is Layla who was imported from the Netherlands. 

7年前、えひめは生まれました。えひめの生みの母親は、レイラちゃんです。オランダからやって来ました。

Ehime was a tiny puppy with a lot of appetite. Layla used to lay down in front of her to feed her.

えひめはかなりの食欲を持った、小さなパピーでした。レイラちゃんは、よくえひめの目の前に横たわり、えひめにミルクを与えていました。

At the age of 12, Layla passed away yesterday. She was a very beautiful English Cream Golden Retriever. 

昨日、12歳という年齢で、レイラちゃんはこの世を旅立ちました。とても美しい英国ゴールデンレトリバーでした。

Ehime: "I'm tired of hearing that my loved ones pass away."

えひめ：「大好きなひとが亡くなる話は、精神的につらいでしゅよ。」

Mommy: "I'm with you."

ママ：「ママも。」

Mommy: "It's hard to keep saying good-bye. I wish I can say something good, but I can't find good words to heal the pain now."

ママ：「さよならを言い続けるのは、つらいね。何かいいことが言えればいいけれど、今は痛みを癒すいい言葉が見つけられない。」

Rest in peace, Layla.

No water in the house! 〜家にお水がない！〜

Mommy: "Oh, my! It's an emergency! The water is overflowing from the well!"

ママ：「なんてこと！　緊急事態だわ！　井戸からお水が溢れ出てる！」

(calling my husband)　（トゥルルルル）

Mommy: "Hello? Darling? It's me. We have a problem with the well. The water is overflowing from the well. Can we do FaceTime so you can see?"

ママ：「もしもし、パパ？　私。井戸が大変なの。お水が井戸から溢れ出てるの。FaceTimeにしてもいい？　そしたらパパ、見えるでしょう？」

Daddy: "Yeah, let's do it. Oh, no! Can you see the silver box near there? There are switches in there, please turn them off."

パパ：「うん、そうしよう。なんてこった！　ママ、近くにシルバーの箱があるの、見える？　その中のスイッチ、両方止めて。」

Mommy: "Oh, these? OK! I turned them off."

ママ：「ああ、これね？　はい！　止めたよ。」

Daddy: "It means all the water including the one for the house stopped. You don't have the water for a while, but I'm going to check when I get home, OK?"

パパ：「つまり、家を含めたすべてのお水が止まったということなんだ。しばらくの間、ママもお水がないからね。でもぼくが家に帰ったら、チェックするから。」

Mommy: "OK. I understood."

ママ：「うん、わかった。」

Chicken A: "Sorry to hear that you don't have the water for a while."

にわとりA：「しばらくお水がないなんて、かわいそうね。」

Chicken B: "What do you do when you want to go bathroom? Humans need to use the one called toilet, right?"

にわとりB：「チッチに行きたくなったらどうするの？　人間は、トイレっていうのを使うんでしょう？」

Mommy: "Oh, gosh. You are right. What should I do?"

ママ：「ああ、ホントだ。確かにその通りだわ。どうしよう。」

Ehime: "You don't need to worry about it. I can show you my favorite place in the backyard."

えひめ：「心配ちなくてもいいでしゅよ。裏庭の、わたちの一番お気に入りの場所を紹介ちてあげましゅから。」

Mommy: "Umm... Mmm...."

ママ：「あの‥‥　うーん‥‥」

Ehime: "But can you wait for a little while? I'm about to take a nap now."

えひめ：「でも、ちょっと待っててくれましゅか？　わたち、今お昼寝しゅるところでしゅから。」

Mommy: "That's not what I'm worried about..."

ママ：「そこが問題ではなくてね‥‥」

A polar bear? 〜シロクマ？〜

Ehime: "What? For health?"

えひめ：「え？　健康のため？」

Mommy: "That's right. Strawberries are delicious as is, but they also have a lot of vitamin C in the berries."

ママ：「そうよ。いちごはそのままでもおいしいけれど、その中にたくさんのビタミンCが含まれているの。」

Mommy: "Daddy & I have been having one tablespoon of strawberry vinegar with sparkling water every day. My skin condition got much better than before. This is supposed to work great for neutral fat."

ママ：「パパとママはね、毎日いちご酢大さじ１を、スパークリングウォーターで割って飲んでるの。ママのお肌のコンディションは、以前よりずっと良くなったのよ。これは、中性脂肪にも効果があるはずなの。」

Mommy: "Vinegar itself is also a remedy for many different things."

ママ：「お酢も、それだけで色んなことへの療法になるしね。」

Ehime: "I'm against vinegar. It smells bad."

えひめ：「お酢反対。においが悪いでしゅよ。」

Mommy: "I hear that vinegar works great for the ones who are on a diet."

ママ：「お酢は、ダイエットしている人にいいんだって。」

Ehime: "I'm not on a diet. I need my fat to go through the winter."

えひめ：「わたち、ダイエットは必要ないんでしゅよ。冬を越すのに脂肪が必要でしゅから。

Mommy: "Are you a bear?"

ママ：「ひめたん、クマなの？」

Mommy: "I have more strawberries. Let's make one more jar of strawberry vinegar."

ママ：「まだいちごがあるから、いちご酢をもうひと瓶作っておこうっと。」
