Daddy: "Mmm, maybe you can let me hug you after work."

Makana: "Sure. You can kiss me, too."

マカナ：「いいよ。チュッチュもしてもいいよ。」

Mommy: "Yes. This box is going to Arizona."

ママ：「うん。この箱は、アリゾナに行くのよ。」

Sachi: "I wonder if the receiver wants something else. For example, my tennis ball."

さち：「受取人しゃん、他のものが欲しいんじゃないでしゅかね。たとえば、わたちのテニスボールとか。」

Makana: "That tennis ball is mine!"

マカナ：「あのテニスボールは、ぼくのっ！」

Mommy: "This is the most gorgeous charcuterie we've ever had at our wine club pickup party. Thank you, chefs."

ママ：「今までのワインクラブピックアップパーティの中で、一番ゴージャスなシャキュテリだわ。シェフさんたち、どうもありがとう。」

Daddy: "It feels great to open the window doors, doesn't it?"

パパ：「ウィンドードアを開けて、気持ちがいいね。」

Mommy: "I agree. What a perfect day for the party♪"

ママ：「ホントに。パーティには、最適な日だわ♪」

Trin: "I came along with my parents."

トリンちゃん：「私も、パパとママに連れられて来ました。」

Mommy: "Welcome♪"

ママ：「いらっしゃい♪」

Makana: "My parents didn't take me to the party."

マカナ：「ぼくのパパとママは、ぼくをパーティに連れて行ってくれなかった。」

Mommy: "But you & Sachi had fun with a dog sitter, I heard."

ママ：「でも、ドッグシッターさんと一緒に楽しい時間を過ごしたって聞いたけど？」

Mommy: "Today is our wine club pick up day. We've been packing for club members, and getting ready for a pickup party this week. It's going to be a busy day."

Sachi: "Good luck. I'm going to take a little relaxing day. The sun feels great."

After getting medications 〜お薬をもらって〜

 

Makana: "You just woke up only once last night. That's kind of better, isn't it?"

マカナ：「昨日の夜はママ、一回しか起きなかったよね。それって、よくなってきてるってことでしょ？」

Mommy: "Yes. It's much better."

ママ：「うん。ずっとよくなった。」

Mommy: "This is what medications with the prescription can do, right? I didn't feel like they were working on Day 1. But on Day 2, my coughs and inflammation were much better. Having more than one minute between coughs is breathable, which is great."

ママ：「処方箋のお薬って、やっぱり効果があるわね〜　1日目は効いてないような気がしてたけど、2日目は、咳と炎症がずっとよくなったもの。咳と咳の間が一分以上あるって、呼吸ができるってことで、本当によかったわ。」

Mommy: "Yes. But he is looking the other way."

ママ：「うん。でも、別の方向を見てる。」

Makana: "......"

マカナ：「‥‥」

Makana: "You are so demanding. I'm getting tired. (yawning)"

マカナ：「注文が多いんだよ。ぼく、疲れてきちゃった。（ぷは〜）」

Sachi: "Wow, that's a big mouth."

さち：「わあ、大きな口。」

Getting better 〜快復中〜

 

Mommy: "Your ear feels great. So soft and warm♪"

ママ：「マーくんのお耳、なんか気持ちいい。とってもやわらかくて温かい♪」

Makana: "I'm glad you feel a little better, but you don't have to play with my ear."

マカナ：「ママが元気になってきているのはよかったけれど、ぼくのお耳で遊ばなくてもいいと思います。」

Mommy: "Fufu. I guess you are right. We have a wine club pickup party this coming Saturday. I should get to work if I'm getting better."

ママ：「うふふ。まあ、そうだわね。今週末の土曜日、ワインクラブのピックアップパーティがあるから。元気になってきてるなら、仕事に戻らなくっちゃ。」

Coughs continue. 〜咳が続く〜

 

I've been sick. No fever, no running nose, but I have coughs. Having coughs during the night prevents me from sleeping properly and makes me feel weak during the day. I really appreciate Makana & Sachi try to be right next to me, and that's very encouraging even though they are not intentionally doing it. 

ここのところ、調子がよくありません。熱も鼻水もありませんが、咳が出ます。夜の間咳が出ると、ちゃんと眠ることができず、お昼間気弱になります。マカナやさちがとなりにいてくれること、たとえ意図的にそうしているのではなくても、とても勇気づけられます。

On the way back home, my husband took a photo of a hawk resting on the fence. How dignified he is. I'm now dreaming of the day when I can go back to work with pride.

主人が帰宅途中、フェンスに止まっているタカの写真を撮ってきてくれました。なんて凛々しんでしょう。私がいま夢見ているのは、誇りを持って仕事に戻れる日が早く来ることです。

More important than "beautiful" is... 〜「きれい」よりもっと重要なのは‥‥〜

 

Mommy: "I asked our gardener to plant some rose plants along the fence."

ママ：「うちのガーデナーさんに、フェンス沿いにバラの苗を植えてくれるように頼んだのよね。」

Mommy: "We got ready a new bag of the soil, but it looks like the soil in the pots we had was enough. The roses are going to bloom in red and yellow in spring."

ママ：「新しい土の袋も用意してたんだけど、もともと鉢植えにあった土が十分にあったみたいね。春にはバラの花、赤や黄色で咲く予定よ。」

Sachi: "Are the roses tasty?"

さち：「バラの花っておいちいでしゅか？」

Makana: "I don't think mommy & daddy want us to eat roses. That's why they made the rose garden outside of the fence, I believe."

マカナ：「パパとママ、ぼくたちにバラの花を食べてもらいたくないんだよ。だから、フェンスの外側にバラのガーデンを作ったんだと思うよ。」

Roses on Valentine's Day 〜バレンタインデーのバラの花〜

 

Daddy: "Happy Valentine's Day, honey."

パパ：「ママ、ハッピーバレンタインズデー。」

Mommy: "Wow, this is so pretty. Thank you so much. darling❤︎"

ママ：「わあ、これ、とってもかわいい。パパ、ありがとう❤︎」

Sachi: "Roses... I think they are pretty, but I would appreciate if they were biscuits."

さち：「バラの花‥‥ かわいいとは思いましゅけど、ビスケットだったらありがたいのに。」

Makana: "Do you know, Sachi? In Japan, girls actually give chocolate to the guys they like on Valentine's Day."

マカナ：「さっちゃん、知ってる？　日本では、バレンタインデーには、女の子が好きな男の子にチョコレートあげるんだよ。」

Sachi: "I'm glad I'm in America. I like to get more than give."

さち：「アメリカにいてよかった。わたち、あげるよりもらう方が好きでしゅから。」

The moon over the vineyard 〜ぶどう畑の上のお月様〜

 

Mommy: "What a beautiful moon over the vineyard. Well... being by myself in the dark out here and taking a photo is kind of scary. Let's get back in the car."

ママ：「ぶどう畑の上に、きれいなお月様。えっと‥‥ こんな暗い中一人でいて写真を撮るのって、なんか怖い気もするわ。車に戻ろうっと。」

Next day　次の日

Sachi: "If you are scared, you shouldn't have got out from the car and take a photo."

さち：「怖いんだったら、車から出て写真を撮るとかちなきゃよかったのに。」

Mommy: "I know. But I just had to take a photo of the moon, because it was beautiful♪"

ママ：「だよね。でも、お月様がきれいだったから、写真を撮らなきゃって思っちゃったんだもの♪」

Mommy: "Oh, my. The trash bin and recycle bins were blown away in the storm."

ママ：「あらら。嵐で、ゴミ入れやリサイクル入れが吹き飛ばされちゃった。」

Mommy: "But I hear it's not going to be raining today. It's nice to see the sunlight."

ママ：「でも今日は、雨にならないって聞いたし。太陽の光が見えるっていいわね。」

Sachi: "Are you sure? It's raining now."

さち：「しょれ、ホント？　雨が降ってきまちたけど。」

Mommy: "Oh, no. The weather forecast didn't say it..."

ママ：「あらら。天気予報では言ってなかったのに‥‥」

A rainy day party 〜雨の日パーティ〜

 

Mommy: "What a storm we have today... The cushion on the patio furniture is blown away."

ママ：「今日は、なんて嵐‥‥ パティオの家具のクッション、飛ばされちゃってる。」

Mommy: "Sorry, but I don't think we can go for a walk today. It has been very rainy."

ママ：「ごめんだけどね、今日はお散歩には行けないと思うわ。ずっとすごく雨が降ってるから。」

Sachi: "Then, what are we doing today?"

さち：「じゃあ、今日は何しゅるでしゅか？」

Mommy: "Hmm... Do you have any good idea?"

ママ：「うーん‥‥ なんかいいアイディア、ある？」

Sachi: "What about a rainy day party for dogs? Maybe duck treats as an appetizer? (lick)"

さち：「犬用、雨の日パーティなんてどうでしゅか？　前菜に、ダックのおやつとか？（ペロッ）」

Mommy: "What? If 'duck' is for appetizer, what do you eat for entree?"

ママ：「えっ？　前菜が”ダック”なら、メインディッシュには何を食べるの？」
