During mommy's lunch break 〜ママのランチ休けいの間に〜

Mommy: "Ehime, why don't we read a magazine together?"

ママ：「ねえ、ひめたん。一緒に雑誌を読まない？」

Ehime: "Mmm...."

えひめ：「ん‥‥」

Mommy: "Oh, look. there are so many bagels. Speaking of which, we had a bagel store down the hill when we were living in Seattle. They sometimes had free bagels for doggies, and we used to get one to share for Kahlua & Hailey."

ママ：「ほら、見て。ベーグルがたくさんあるよ。そういえば、シアトルに住んでいたとき、坂の下にベーグル屋さんがあってね、時々犬用の無料ベーグルが置いてあったのよ。カルアくんとヘイリーちゃんがシェアできるように、よくひとつもらってたわね〜」

Ehime: "Free bagel for doggies?"

えひめ：「犬用の無料ベーグル？」

Mommy: "Oh, are you awake now?"

ママ：「あ、起きた？」

Mommy: "I'm kind of interested in garlic & thyme bagel. What about you?"

ママ：「ママは、ガーリック＆タイムのベーグルにちょっと興味がある。ひめたんは？」

Ehime: "I prefer original."

えひめ：「わたち、オリジナルがいい。」

Mommy: "Oh, seafood looks delicious♪"

ママ：「あら、シーフード、おいしそうね♪」

Ehime: "You are finally recovering from the food allergy after you ate Ahi tuna. Are you still interested in seafood?"

えひめ：「ママ、やっとキハダマグロからの食物アレルギーが治ってきているところなのに、まだシーフードに興味があるでしゅか？」

Mommy: "It's my blood as a Japanese."

ママ：「まあ、日本人としての血だわね。」

Mommy: "This one is Hawaiian Pork Bowl. Is it different from Hawaiian Kahlua Pork?"

ママ：「これは、ハワイアン・ポークボールだって。ハワイアン・カルアポークとは違うのかしら？」

Ehime: "You should ask brother Kahlua. He may know it."

えひめ：「カルアにいに聞いてみたらどうでしゅか？なにか知ってるかも。」

Mommy: "Mmm? I thought it was weird some pages in the back are printed opposite side. It looks like you can actually start to read from the back!"

ママ：「ん？後ろのほうのページが何枚か反対方向に印刷されていて、変だなあと思ったら、後ろからも読めるようになってる！」

Mommy: "There is a Japanese chef's recipe here. Are you still awake?"

ママ：「ここ、日本人シェフのレシピも載ってるよ。ひめたん、まだ起きてる？」

Ehime: "Umm..."

えひめ：「う〜んと‥‥」

Ehime: "I know you have been busy this morning, and you finally got a lunch break now. But this is our nap time."

えひめ：「ママが今朝忙ちくて、今やっとランチ休けいになったことは知ってるんでしゅけど、この時間は、わたちたちのお昼寝の時間でしゅから。」

Ehime: "Why don't you take a nap, too?"

えひめ：「ママもお昼寝ちたらどうでしゅか？」

Mommy: "I guess you are right. Everyone is taking a nap. I think I'm going to write today's blog and keep quiet for you."

ママ：「確かにそうね。みんなお昼寝してる。じゃあ、今日のブログを書いて、みんなのために静かにしていることにするわ。」

Ehime: "Good idea."

えひめ：「いい考えでしゅね。」

Fire in California 〜カリフォルニア州の火事〜

Monday　月曜日

Kahlua: "Mommy, there is a dark cloud in the sky."

カルア：「ママ、お空に黒い雲があるよ。」

Ehime: "What is that? Are we safe?"

えひめ：「あれ、なんでしゅか？わたちたち、安全でしゅか？」

Mommy: "It's the fire. Let's turn on the TV and what the news has to say."

ママ：「火事だわ。テレビをつけて、ニュースでなんて言ってるか聞いてみよう。」

Monday afternoon, the fire started near Santa Margarita. We saw the smoke from our house, but we didn't know how close that was. Santa Margarita is the town we pass when we go to Costco. Good news is that the fire didn't come close to us. Bad news is there are people who had to leave their things in the house to evacuate. At 6:00pm, we heard the fire grew to 500 acres.

月曜日の午後、サンタマルガリータという町の近くで、火事が発生しました。私たちの家から煙が見えましたが、どれくらい近くなのかわかりませんでした。サンタマルガリータは、コストコに行くときに通る町です。よかったのは、火事は私たちの近くに来なかったこと、悪かったのは、家に自分たちのものを残したまま避難しなければいけなかった人たちがいるということです。午後６時の時点で、500エーカーを焼け付くすほど広がったそうです。

The news was saying where the evacuation place was. They said "Bring your animals. The Horse Emergency Evacuation Team is prepared to help evacuate large animals from the area." As an owner of many animals, this came to my heart. 

ニュースでは、避難場所について知らせていました。その中で「動物も連れてきてください。馬の緊急避難チームが、このエリアにいる大型動物を助ける準備をしています。」と言っていました。たくさんの動物のオーナーとして、この言葉は心に響きました。

On Tuesday, the new said that the fire burned 1,500 acres. I'm really hoping that all people and animals in that area evacuated, and they are in the safe place now.

火曜日、ニュースでは、火事は1,500エーカーを焼き尽くしたと言っていました。そのエリアにいた人たちや動物たちがみんな避難して、現在安全な場所にいることを願っています。

Kahlua: "(bite)"

カルア：「（カプッ）」

Ehime: "He he♪"

えひめ：「えへへ♪」

Kona: "We are fine as usual."

コナ：「ぼくたちは、いつも通り元気です。」

Mommy: "The temperature went down and the humidity went up last night. It was probably good for extinguishing the fire, I think."

ママ：「昨夜は気温が下がって、湿度が上がったからね。きっと火の鎮火にはよかったと思うわ。」

Mommy: "90% of wild fire is man-made, I have read somewhere. As a resident and as a tourist, we humans should be very careful when we use the fire outside."

ママ：「山火事の90パーセントは、人の手によって作られたものだと、どこかで読んだことがあるの。住人としても観光客としても、 私たち人間は、外で火を使う時は、十分気をつけたいものだわね。」

Mommy: "Should we go back home?"

ママ：「おうちに戻ろうか。」

Kona: "OK."

コナ：「はい。」

Ehime: "I was grazing."

えひめ：「わたち、放牧ちてたのに。」

Kahlua: "The grass is still in my mouth."

カルア：「ぼく、お口の中にまだ草が入ってる。」

Outside of the house　家の外で

Mommy: "Oh, my! The grapes are getting bigger."

ママ：「わあ！ぶどうが大きくなってきた。」

Day: "(Jumped on mommy's arm) Let's take a selfie together♪"

デイ：「（ぴょん）一緒にセルフィーを撮りましょう♪」

Mommy: "Wow! You surprised me."

ママ：「わあ！びっくりした〜」

Mommy: "Why don't you sit down with me on the bench?"

ママ：「ベンチで一緒に座るっていうのはどう？」

Day: "That's relaxing, too."

デイ：「それもリラックスしていいわね。」

Deer and allergy 〜シカとアレルギー〜

Mommy: "Let's go for a walk."

ママ：「さあ、お散歩に行こう。」

Ehime: "Oh, deer."

えひめ：「あ、シカしゃん。」

Kahlua: "Where?"

カルア：「どこ？」

Kona: "Where? (looking back)"

コナ：「どこ？（チラッ）」

Deer A: "It looks like this area will be the new vineyard. I see a lot of sticks are standing."

シカA：「ここ、新しいぶどう園になるみたいだよ。たくさん棒が立ってるのが見えるもの。」

Deer B: "It's called 'Buffet for deer'. I can't wait to see when this will be full of grapes♪"

シカB：「それ、”シカ用ビュッフェ”って言うのよ。ここがぶどうでいっぱいになるのを見るのが待ち遠しいわ〜♪」

Ehime: "I smell deer here."

えひめ：「ここ、シカしゃんのにおいがしゅる。」

Kona: "Maybe they were walking around here."

コナ：「この辺りを歩いていたんじゃないかな。」

Kahlua: "I heard that mommy deer and her baby twins are living in our forest these days."

カルア：「最近、お母さんシカと双子の赤ちゃんたちが、うちの林に住んでるって聞いたよ。」

Ehime: "Then, I will leave my message to tell them that I want to be a friend of them."

えひめ：「じゃあここに、シカしゃんたちのお友だちになりたいっていうメッセージを残ちておこうっと。」

Kona: "Then, me, too."

コナ：「じゃあ、ぼくも。」

I'm having a happy life most of the time. But sometimes I suffer from my allergy... One week ago, I ate the raw Ahi tuna, and got rash around my face. Two days after that, my husband took me to see a doctor, and I got medication. Right after I started my medication, my both eye lids started to be swollen! Huh... It looks like I'm getting side effect from the medication. 

普段私は楽しい人生を送らせてもらっていますが、アレルギーで大変な思いをすることもあります。。。一週間前、生のキハダマグロを食べて、顔中に蕁麻疹ができました。その二日後、主人がお医者様に連れて行ってくれて、お薬をもらいました。そのお薬を始めてすぐ、なんと両まぶたが腫れてしまったのです！はあ。。。どうもお薬の副作用のようです。

Mommy: "Well, this is not my first time to suffer from the food allergy and medication. Let's leave off this medication for now."

ママ：「まあ、食物アレルギーやお薬で大変な思いをするのは、これが初めてではないからね。今は、このお薬は飲まないでおこう。」

Ehime: "Your eye lids look like someone hit you."

えひめ：「ママのまぶた、誰かに殴られたみたい。」

Mommy: "I know. I'm going back to the over-the-counter- drug, and keep applying the cream for my rash."

ママ：「そうよね。市販のお薬に戻って、蕁麻疹にはクリームのお薬をつけ続けることにするわ。」

Kona: "Speaking of which, we should eat our monthly medication soon."

コナ：「そう言えば、ぼくたちも、毎月食べるお薬をもうすぐ食べなきゃ。」

Ehime: "Our medication has a good taste. What about yours, mommy?"

えひめ：「わたちたちのお薬は、おいちいんでしゅよ。ママのは？」

Mommy: "I don't chew my medication, but I guess it doesn't have as good a taste as yours. My face feels a little itchy now. I'm going to make the towel with the cold water and put it on my skin."

ママ：「ママはお薬を噛まないからね。でもきっと、ひめたんのほどいい味じゃないと思うわ。ちょっとお顔がかゆい。タオルを冷水で濡らして、お肌につけようっと。」

I found a few tiny watermelons are growing in our garden. This made me happy♪

畑で、小さなすいかが数個育っているのを見つけました。幸せだな〜♪
