Makana: "Look. Our dinner will be served soon."

マカナ：「見て。ぼくたちの晩ごはん、もうすぐ出てくるよ。」

Sachi: "Woo, I can't wait."

さち：「う〜　わたち、待てない。」

Mommy: "I just need to mix in the water."

ママ：「あとは、お水を入れるだけ。」

Sachi: "You don't have to."

さち：「入れなくてもいいでしゅよ。」

Makana: "You just want to eat now."

マカナ：「さっちゃんは、今すぐ食べたいんでしょ。」

Mommy: "Here you are."

ママ：「はい、どうぞ。」

Makana: "Mmm, yum♪"

マカナ：「うーん、おいしい♪」

Mommy: "Are you chewing or drinking the food, Sachi?"

ママ：「さっちゃん、ちゃんと噛んでる？それとも飲んでる？」

Sachi: "Well... kind of in the middle♪"

さち：「えっと‥‥ その中間♪」

Mommy: "I created this recipe when Makana couldn't eat at all after Ehime passed away. He doesn't have any problem with eating now, and that makes me happy. Let's save these as a stock in the freezer."

ママ：「このレシピは、ひめたんが亡くなったときに作ったのよね。もうマーくんが食べることになんの問題もなくなって、うれしいわ。よし、残りはストックとして冷凍庫で保存しよう。」

You can drink wine when you turn 21 years old. 〜ワインは21歳になってから〜

 

Daddy: "The dinner last night was very nice, wasn't it?"

パパ：「昨夜の晩ごはん、とってもよかったね〜」

Mommy: "Yes! Truffle risotto as a souvenir from Italy was nice. We topped with prosciutto, Italian pan-fried tomatoes, truffle oil, parmesan cheese and house-fried parsley. Side dish was smoke salmon carpaccio style salad."

ママ：「うん！　イタリアのおみやげで頂いたトリュフのリゾット、よかったわよね〜　トッピングで、プロシュート、イタリアン・パンフライドトマト、トリュフのオイル、パルメザンチーズ、それから家で乾燥させたパセリ。サイドディッシュは、スモークサーモンのカルパッチョスタイルサラダ。」

Daddy: "We used our Grenache Blanc to cook risotto. That was great."

パパ：「リゾットを作るのに、うちのグルナッシュブランを使ったんだよね。あれは、よかった。」

Mommy: "Wine is great for both cooking and enjoying as a pairing wine for dinner."

ママ：「ワインは、お料理にもいいし、晩ごはんのペアリングワインとして楽しめるのもいいわね。」

Sachi: "I don't remember eating risotto."

さち：「わたち、リゾット食べたの、覚えてない。」

Makana: "Because we didn't eat. You can drink wine when you turn 21 years old, the law says."

マカナ：「だって、食べてないもん。ワインは21歳になってからって、法律で決まってるんだって。」

Sachi: "?"

さち：「？」

Hana & Ken are back to the field. 〜ハナ＆ケン、フィールドに戻る〜

 

Since Ken got injured, he was hospitalized in the pen with Hana. Since his leg is not as swollen as it was before, we walked them back to the field.

ケンがケガをしてから、ハナと一緒に囲いに入り、治療をしていました。ケンの足が以前ほど腫れなくなったので、私たちはふたりをフィールド戻すため、一緒に歩いて行きました。

Hana: "Phew, running around the big space feels good♪"

ハナ：「ふう、広いスペースを走り回るのは、気持ちいいわね〜♪」

Ken: "I can run with you, mother. It feels good♪"

ケン：「ぼくも母さんと一緒に走れる。気持ちいい♪」

Sachi: "I know how that feels like. When I go out to the backyard, I want to run around with my brother."

さち：「わたち、その気持ちわかる〜　裏庭に出るとき、にいにいと一緒に走り回りたいもん。」

Makana: "Sachi. Can you stop bringing that towel on the couch? I saw mommy used it to clean your paws."

マカナ：「さっちゃん。そのタオルをソファーに持ってくるの、やめてくれない？　ぼく、ママがそれでさっちゃんの足を拭くの、見たよ。」

Things Sachi likes 〜さちが好きなもの〜

Mommy: "Sachi fell asleep holding a toy in her mouth last night. I wonder if it was comfortable."

ママ：「さっちゃん、昨日の夜、お口におもちゃを入れたまま寝ちゃったのよね。それで快適だったのかしら。」

Makana: "She has something in her mouth now, too, mommy."

マカナ：「ママ。今もお口に何か入れてるよ。」

Mommy: "What?"

ママ：「えっ？」

Mommy: "Oh, my gosh! She is holding up the towel to clean the paws!"

ママ：「あら、やだ！　さっちゃんったら、足拭き用のタオルを持ち上げてる！」

Makana: "And that's already used."

マカナ：「で、もう使ったあとのだし。」

Mommy: "I've seen a cute video where a Golden Retriever holds up a Golden Retriever stuffed animal. I guess our Golden Retriever holds up the the towel that has been used..."

ママ：「あるゴールデンレトリバーが、ゴールデンレトリバーのぬいぐるみを持ち上げてるかわいいビデオは見たことあるけど、うちのゴールデンレトリバーは、使ったタオルを持ち上げるのね‥‥」

Makana: "Not me."

マカナ：「ぼくは、しないけどね。」

Daddy: "Isn't it enough, Sachi?"

パパ：「さち、もう十分じゃない？」

Sachi: "No. The massage has just started."

さち：「ダメ。マッサージは、始まったばかりでしゅから。」

Sachi: "Can you go a little lower? Oh, yeah. Oops. My leg moves on its own."

さち：「もうちょっと下、行ってくれる？　ああ、しょうしょう。おっと。足が勝手に動く。」

Mommy: "Can you do my shoulder next, darling?"

ママ：「次は、私の肩もお願いできる、パパ？」

Makana: "Then, mine, too. Actually, the neck will be better for me."

マカナ：「じゃあ、ぼくもお願い。やっぱり、ぼくは首のほうがいいかな。」

Daddy: "Huh..."

パパ：「はあ‥‥」

Do wild cats attack chickens? 〜野良猫はにわとりを襲う？〜

After taking care of Jersey cows, I let the chickens out to play outside for a while and clean the chicken coop every morning. I did the same this morning. While chickens were pecking the ground and having a good time, I was standing near them and writing work e-mail on my phone. When I looked around, I noticed this wild cat was about one meter away from chickens!

ジャージー牛たちのお世話のあと、私は毎朝にわとりたちを遊ばせるためにしばらくお外に出し、にわとり小屋を掃除します。今朝も同じことをしました。にわとりたちが地面をツンツンして楽しんでいる間、私はそばに立ち、ケイタイで仕事のメールを書いていました。ふと見渡したとき、この野良猫がにわとりたちから約１メートルのところにいることに気づいたのです！

The cat was aiming at chickens obviously (at least that was what I saw), so I said "No!" and ran to the cat. He/she ran away quickly. I didn't think that the cats attack chickens to eat, but do they do that when they are hungry? 

そのネコは、明らかににわとりたちを狙っていました（少なくても、私はそれを見ました）。なので「ダメッ！」と行って、ネコに走り寄りました。ネコは、急いで逃げて行きました。私は勝手に、ネコは食べるためににわとりを襲ったりしないと思っていたのですが、おなかがすくと、襲ってしまうものなのでしょうか？ 

Chicken A: "Were we in danger?"

にわとりA：「私たち、危なかった？」

Chicken B: "I didn't notice the cat came closer. He came very quietly."

にわとりb：「ネコが近寄ってきたことに気づかなかった。とっても静かに来たんだもの。」

Makana: "I don't know much about cats. We've never lived with them."

マカナ：「ぼくは、あんまりネコのことわからない。一緒に暮らしたことないもん。」

Sachi: "I don't mind playing with cats and chickens."

さち：「わたちは、ネコしゃんともにわとりしゃんとも遊んでもいいよ。」

Taking a nap in the morning 〜朝のお昼寝〜

 

Makana: "Mommy. I kind of feel sleepy."

マカナ：「ママ。ぼく、なんか眠い。」

Mommy: "You look like it. You've been washed and ran around with Sachi this morning."

ママ：「そんな感じね。今朝洗われたし、さっちゃんと一緒に走り回ったもんね。」

Mommy: "Sachi is completely asleep."

ママ：「さっちゃんは、完全に寝ちゃったね。」

Makana: "I think I'm going to take a nap on the couch."

マカナ：「ぼくは、ソファーでお昼寝しようかな。」

Mommy: "That's good. You are dry enough."

ママ：「それは、いいわね。もう十分乾いてるし。」

Getting the energy out 〜エネルギー発散〜

 

Mommy: "Oh, it's kind of beautiful, isn't it? Two Goldens are sitting on the ground, and the shiny sunlight is coming from behind."

ママ：「あら〜　なんかきれいじゃない？　ゴールデンズ二頭が地面に座っていて、キラキラした太陽の光が後ろから差していて。」

Mommy: "What are you two doing there?"

ママ：「ふたり、そこで何してるの？」

Makana: "Since the rain stopped and the sun came out, we were running around the yard and rolling over on the ground."

マカナ：「雨が止んで太陽が出てきたから、お庭を走り回って地面でゴロゴロしてたの。」

Mommy: "What!? Rolling over...?"

ママ：えっ！？　ゴロゴロ‥‥？」

Sachi: "And we dug the hole together and we are chewing the branch together now."

さち：「しょれでね、一緒に穴掘りちて、今は一緒に枝のカミカミちてるの〜」

Mommy: "Huh... It looks like I need to clean them up..."

ママ：「はあ‥‥　ふたりのこと、きれいにしなくっちゃだわね‥‥」

A little chilly morning 〜ちょっと肌寒い朝〜

 

Mommy: "You look so comfy, Sachi."

ママ：「さっちゃん、気持ちよさそうね〜」

Sachi: "I feel warm when I lean on my brother, Ma."

さち：「マーにいにいに寄り添ってると、温かいでしゅから。」

Makana: "I might move soon, though. My back legs have started to fall asleep."

マカナ：「でももうちょっとしたら、ぼく動くかも。後ろ足がしびれてきちゃったから。」

Sachi: "Is it my fault?"

さち：「わたちのせい？」

Mommy: "The sun was coming out this morning, but..."

ママ：「今朝太陽は出てきてたんだけどね‥‥」

Mommy: "It got foggy again. It's still kind of chilly, isn't it?"

ママ：「また霧が深くなっちゃったのよ。まだなんか肌寒いわよね。」

The sky is crying. 〜お空が泣いている〜

 

Sachi: "Why is the sky crying today?"

さち：「今日は、なんでお空が泣いてるんでしゅか？」

Mommy: "Hmm. Maybe these are the tears of Ren's mommy. Her precious Golden Retriever, Ren passed away."

ママ：「うーん。これは多分、蓮ちゃんのママさんの涙じゃないかな。大切なゴールデンレトリバーの蓮ちゃんが、亡くなったの。」

Sachi: "The person with tears is being sad, right? We want to pray for Ren & her mommy."

さち：「涙を流ちてる人は、悲しんでるんでしゅよね。わたち、蓮ちゃんとママしゃんのために、祈ってあげたい。」

Makana: "I know how sad that is. I couldn't eat at all when my sister, Ehime passed away."

マカナ：「ぼく、それがどんなに悲しいかわかる。えひめねえたんが亡くなったとき、ぼく、全然食べられなかったもの。」

Injury 〜ケガ〜

 

Hana: "Ken, are you OK?"

ハナ：「ケン、大丈夫？」

Ken: "I guess. They are putting the medication on my scars. Now I can't remember how I got injured."

ケン：「多分。ぼくの傷に、お薬を塗ってもらってるの。なんでケガしちゃったのか覚えてないんだけど。」

Mommy: "You might fall from the couch and get injured, Sachi. You are sitting at the very edge of the couch."

ママ：「さっちゃん、ソファーから落っこちてケガしちゃうよ。そんな端っこに座ってたら。」

Sachi: "I'm OK. I'm older than Ken."

さち：「わたちは大丈夫。ケンくんよりお姉ちゃんでしゅから。」

Makana: "I'll stay away from Sachi. I don't want her to fall on me when I'm sleeping comfortably by the couch."

マカナ：「ぼくは、さっちゃんから離れておくことにするよ。ソファーのそばで心地よく眠っているときに、さっちゃんがぼくの上に落ちてきたらイヤだもの。」

Mommy: "That's smart of you."

ママ：「賢いわね。」
