Ehime: "Mommy. If you think I'm cute, then please give me a treat now. I know you brought a dental chewy bone to the tasting room today."

えひめ：「ママ。わたちをかわいいと思ってくれるなら、おやつをくだしゃい。今日テイスティングルームに、デンタルボーンを持ってきたの、知ってるんでしゅよ。」

Makana: "Hey, sister. Don't you think you are too close to mommy?"

マカナ：「ちょっと、ねえたん。ママに近すぎるんじゃない？」

Makana: "Mommy. If you think I'm cute, please pet my head. I know you have empty hands now."

マカナ：「ママ。ぼくをかわいいって思ってくれるなら、ぼくの頭をよしよしして。今お手手が空いてるの、知ってるんだから。」

Mommy: "This is how I get busy every day."

ママ：「こうやって、毎日忙しくなる私。」

Makana: "I'm cute, too, right?"

マカナ：「ぼくだって、かわいいよね？」

Ehime: "I know♪"

What are you holding? 〜なにを抱えてるの？〜

Mommy: "Mm? What are you holding with your paws?"

ママ：「んん？　マーくん、お手手になにを抱えてるの？」

Makana: "Oh, this? A chewy bone."

マカナ：「あ、これ？　カミカミだよ。」

Mommy: "You are holding it in a very skillful way without any help. Why are you holding it, by the way?"

ママ：「手伝ってもらったわけでもないのに、器用に抱えてるね〜　ところで、なんで抱えてるの？」

Makana: "Well..."

マカナ：「だって‥‥」

Makana: "It seems like the medication is working on my sister. She is now willing to chew the bone. I need to hold my bone before she steals it. I never win over my sister."

マカナ：「ねえたん、お薬が効いてるみたいで、最近喜んでカミカミしようとするんだよね。ねえたんに取られる前に、自分のはちゃんと抱えておかなくっちゃ。ぼく、ねえたんには絶対勝てないもん。」

Mommy: "Ahaha. What an effort you are making."

ママ：「あはは。マーくん、努力してるね〜」

Early afternoon in winter 〜冬の昼下がり〜

 

Makana: "We are not working in the tasting room today."

マカナ：「今日はテイスティングルームでのお仕事、ないんだよね。」

Mommy: "I'm going to the tasting room to set up for tomorrow, but no. You are not working today."

ママ：「ママは明日の準備するのにテイスティングルームに行くけど、マーくんたちは、うん、今日はお仕事ないね。」

Ehime: "Then, I might take a nap since it's good weather."

えひめ：「じゃあ、わたちはお昼寝ちようかな。いいお天気でしゅから。」

Mommy: "That's good."

ママ：「それは、いいわね。」

Mommy: "It's chilly in the morning and at night, but it's going to be warm during the daytime."

ママ：「朝や夜は寒いけれど、お昼間は暖かくなるしね。」

Mommy: "What are you going to do today, Ma-kun?"

ママ：「マーくんは、今日なにするの？」

Makana: "Me? Well... Should I weed?"

マカナ：「ぼく？　えっと‥‥　草むしり？」

Mommy: "That will be helpful."

ママ：「助かるわ〜」

A cute hat 〜かわいいお帽子〜

 

Mommy: "Oops, I accidentally dropped the hay on Serene's head. But it doesn't look like he minds it much. He kind of looks cute with a green hat❤︎"

ママ：「おっとっと。まちがえてセリーンくんの頭に干草を落としちゃった。でも、あんまり気にしてる感じじゃないわね。なんか、緑のお帽子がかわいい❤︎」　

Serene: "♪♪♪"

セリーン：「♪♪♪」

Makana: "I can wear the hat if I want to. And mine is blue."

マカナ：「ぼくだって、やろうと思えばお帽子かぶれるもん。ぼくのは、青だよ。」

Makana: "But I just don't like having something on my head. It feels weird."

マカナ：「でも、頭になんか乗ってるのって、好きじゃないんだよね〜　ムズムズするんだもん。」

Makana: "Phew, it's off. I don't understand at all why humans like to wear the hat."

マカナ：「ふう、取れた。人間が、どうしてお帽子をかぶるのが好きなのか、ぼくさっぱりわからないよ。」

Ehime: "I actually like it. I feel like I became a princess♪"

えひめ：「わたちは好きでしゅよ。プリンセスになったような気持ちになりましゅから♪」

Onigiri making 〜おにぎり作り〜

Mommy: "Look, Ma-kun. Making Onigiri, the rice balls is done."  

ママ：「マーくん、見て。おにぎり作り、終わった〜」

Makana: "......"

マカナ：「‥‥」

Mommy: "If you pack Onigiri like this, you can take it anywhere for lunch. How convenient♪"

ママ：「こうやっておにぎりを詰めれば、ランチにどこにでも持っていけるもの。なんて便利♪」

Makana: "Is it something we dogs can eat, too?"

マカナ：「それって、犬も食べられるもの？」

Ehime: "If you get rid of toppings, I think we can eat, too."

えひめ：「トッピングを取り除けば、私たちも食べられると思いましゅよ。」

Mommy: "If you get rid of toppings from Onigiri, isn't it just called 'rice'?"

ママ：「おにぎりからトッピングを取り除けば、それはただの”ごはん”って呼ぶんじゃないの？」

S'more day 〜スモアの日〜

Mommy: "S'mores at the fire pit! Why didn't we think about this before? So much fun!"

ママ：「ファイヤーピットでスモア！　なんでもっと前に思いつかなかったのかしら。すっごく楽しい！」

Daddy: "Using the dark chocolate is great to pair with wine. Please enjoy, customers."

パパ：「ダークチョコレートを使うのは、ワインとのペアリングにいいね〜　お客さま。どうぞエンジョイしてください。」

Tobby: "Unfortunately, I was not including in 'customers'. I'm just keeping watch on wine for my parents."

トビーくん：「残念ながら、ぼくは”お客さま”の中に含まれてなかった。パパとママのために、ワインの番をしているだけ。」

Makana: "Tobby. You shouldn't just wait in that case. You need to go grab it."

マカナ：「トビーくん。そういう時は、待ってるだけじゃダメなんだよ。取りに行かなきゃ。」

Makana: "That's what my sister said, but I've never done myself. Because it's too scary to get scolded by my parents."

マカナ：「って、ねえたんが言ってたけど、ぼくは自分ではやったことないの。だって、パパとママに怒られるの、すっごく怖いんだもの。」

Our boys 〜うちの男の子たち〜

Serene: "If you like..."

セリーン：「よければ‥‥」

Serene: "You can take a photo of my nose and enter it in the photo contest this year."

セリーン：「ぼくのお鼻の写真を撮って、今年の写真コンテストに応募してもらってもいいよ。」

Mommy: "Um, OK. How thoughtful of you. Thank you."

ママ：「あ、うん。気を使ってもらって、ありがとね。」

Makana: "You can take a photo of my nose, too. But..."

マカナ：「ぼくのお鼻の写真も撮ってもいいよ。だけど‥‥」

Mommy: "But, what?"

ママ：「だけど、なに？」

Makana: "I can't keep my eyes open, because I just had a morning walk and ate breakfast."

マカナ：「お目目を開けてられないの。だって、朝のお散歩に行って朝ごはんを食べたばっかりだから。」

Mommy: "I won't bother you then."

ママ：「じゃあ、おジャマしないでおくわね。」

Test result 〜検査結果〜

 

The vet called us and said that Ehime's Cushing Syndrome is caused by a problem of adrenal glands. The ultrasound showed that one of her adrenal glands is huge, and it became a cancer itself, according to the vet. 

お医者様から電話があり、えひめのクッシング症候群は、副腎の問題によるものだ言われました。お医者様によると、超音波の結果、えひめの副腎のひとつが大変大きく、それ自身がガン化したことがわかったそうです。

The surgery to get rid of her adrenal glands is very difficult and expensive, since we need to take her to the specialist. Thinking of her age, we are not sure if she can even make it through the surgery. 

副腎を取る外科手術は、専門医のところへえひめを連れていかなければならないほど大変難しく、高額でもあります。えひめの年齢を考えると、手術に体力がもつかさえもわかりません。

After a long discussion with the vet,  we decided to provide the medication to Ehime. 

At least, this should help her Cushing Syndrome, so that she won't suffer from drinking an excessive amount of water, going bathroom frequently and hair loss. 

お医者様との長い相談の後、私たちは、えひめに薬物療法をすることを決断しました。少なくても、お薬はクッシング症候群に効果があり、大量のお水を飲んだり、頻繁にトイレに行ったり、また脱毛したりすることで、えひめが苦しむことがなくなるからです。

This is not her time yet. Ehime is here and smiling at us.

今はまだ、えひめのその時ではありません。ちゃんとここにいて、私たちに笑いかけてくれています。

Ehime: "I'm kind of good at that♪"

えひめ：「しょういうのはわたち、得意でしゅから♪」

Mommy: "Another day has started. What should we do today?"

ママ：「また新しい一日が始まった。今日は、なにする？」

Ehime: "Taking a nap."

えひめ：「お昼寝〜」

Makana: "Digging a hole."

マカナ：「穴掘り〜」

A little down 〜ちょっと落ち込み〜

 

We've been trying to see the things positive, but I've got to say that my mind is a little down today. Ehime was always strong physically and mentally, but she looks weak this morning. I'll do anything if she gets better, and I would like to know what I should do. 

物事をポジティブに見ようとしていますが、今日の私は、ちょっと落ち込んでいます。えひめはずっと、身体的にも精神的にも強い子でしたが、今朝は弱っているように見えます。えひめが元気になるのなら、なんでもやります。どうすればいいのかを知りたいです。

Makana: "Then, you should play with me first."

マカナ：「じゃあまずは、ぼくと遊んで。」

Mommy: "This became your favorite toy, didn't it?"

ママ：「これ、マーくんのお気に入りのおもちゃになったのね。」

On the day that Ehime is not home 〜えひめがおうちにいない日〜

 

Mommy: "Oh, Ma-kun. You are here at the corner again."

ママ：「あら、マーくん。またこんな端っこにいるのね。」

Makana: "Well..."

マカナ：「えっと‥‥」

Makana: "Sister is not here. I don't know how to play in the backyard without her."

マカナ：「ねえたんがここにいないから。ねえたんがいないと、裏庭でどうやって遊んでいいかわからない。」

Mommy: "I understand. I miss her, too. I hope she is doing well at the vet."

ママ：「わかるよ。ママもさびしいもん。お医者様のところで、なんとかがんばってくれているといいけど。」

Mommy: "Would you like some treats? These might cheer you up a little bit."

ママ：「おやつ食べる？　ちょっとは元気になるかもよ。」

Makana: "......"

マカナ：「‥‥」

Makana: "If that's the case, I'll eat them for my sister, too."

マカナ：「そういうことなら、ねえたんの分まで食べちゃおうっと。」

Mommy: "Well, I believe Ehime will appreciate if you leave some treats for her."

ママ：「えっと、マーくんがおやつを残してくれたら、ひめたんは感謝すると思うよ。」
