Mommy: "One, two, three, four, five, six, seven..... Wow, I think there are 16 florwers are blooming from one stem now. And there will be more. Maybe there will be too many to count."

ママ：「１、２、３、４、５、６、７‥‥ わあ、ひとつの茎から16もの花が咲いてる。これからもっと咲くみたい。多すぎて、数えられなくなるんじゃないかしら。」

Sachi: "If you can't count the number, can I count for you?"

さち：「ママが数を数えられないんなら、わたちが数えてあげようか？」

Mommy: "I've never seen you count the number, though."

ママ：「でも、さっちゃんが数を数えているところ、見たことないけど。」

さち：「わたちは、なーんにも悪いことはちてないでしゅよ。わたち、犬用ブランケットの上にいましゅから。」

Mommy: "I see. Ma-kun was pushed away."

ママ：「なるほどね。マーくん、押し出されちゃったんだ。」

Sachi: "?"

さち：「？」

The time has come to see him off 〜お見送りをするときがやってきた〜

 

One of our very dear friends passed away four weeks ago. It has been very hard for me to accept this reality. 

4週間前、私たちのとても大切なお友だちが亡くなりました。私には、この現実を受け入れることがとても難しいことでした。

My husband & I are attending his funeral today. It seems the time has come to see him off.

主人と私は今日、お葬式に参列します。お友だちを見送るときが、やって来たようです。

Makana: "He held you in his arm when you were a puppy, Sachi."

マカナ：「さっちゃんがパピーのとき、抱っこしてもらったんだよ。」

Sachi: "I don't remember that. But I remember he always pet us every time he visited our tasting room."

さち：「わたち、覚えてない。でもわたちたちのテイスティングルームに来てくれたときはいつも、わたちたちをよちよちちてくれたのは、覚えてる。」

A security guard? 〜警備員？〜

Sachi: "Brother Ma is working as a security guard. I'm so proud of him."

さち：「マーにいにいが、警備員とちて働いてる。わたち、にいにいのこと、とっても誇りに思いましゅよ。」

Mommy: "It's good if you are proud of him. But he is more like... meditating to me."

ママ：「誇りに思うのはいいことなんだけど、どちらかと言えば‥‥ 瞑想してるって感じだわね。」

Makana: "Are you talking about me?"

マカナ：「ぼくの話しをしてる？」

Mommy: "Yes. We are talking how peaceful you are."

ママ：「うん。マーくんは平和だなあ、っていう話し。」

Sachi: "No. Mommy is talking about that you are not working very hard."

さち：「ちがいましゅよ。にいにいがあんまり一生懸命働いてないなあ、っていう話しをママがちてるんでしゅよ。」

Makana: "What?"

マカナ：「え？」

Mommy: "What?"

ママ：「え？」

Yakisoba noodles 〜焼きそば〜

Mommy: "We can finally offer a noodle dish in our restaurant. Yakisoba noodles, the Japanese dish. We use yakiniku-style thin sliced beef. It's a very delicious dish."

ママ：「ようやく、うちのレストランで麺料理をご提供できる。日本のお料理、焼きそばよ。焼き肉スタイルの薄切り牛肉を使うの。とってもおいしいのよね〜」

Sachi: "Let's go eat Yakisoba♪"

さち：「しゃあ、焼きそばを食べに行こう♪」

Mommy: "Sorry to get your hopes up, but Yakisoba is not for you."

ママ：「期待させて悪いんだけど、焼きそばは、さっちゃん用じゃないのよ。」

Neighbor's help 〜ご近所さんの助け〜

Mommy: "Wow, someone from our neighborhood cut the grass on the flat area at the bottom of our hill. We just need to weed-whack around the stream and in front of the front gate. We are very thankful."

ママ：「わあ、ご近所さんのどなたかが、うちの坂の麓の平らなところに生えていた草を刈ってくれた。あとは、小川のまわりとフロントゲートの前の草刈りをするだけね。本当にありがたいわ。」

Makana: "Speaking of which, I kind of smell the grass."

マカナ：「そう言えば、草の香りがするような。」

Sachi: "And, where is the person who cut the grass?"

さち：「で、草を刈ってくれた人は、どこにいるんでしゅか？」

Mommy: "I'm not sure yet. I've got to figure out."

ママ：「まだわからないの。見つけなくっちゃね。」

Golden project 〜ゴールデンプロジェクト〜

Mommy: "This photo came up to my Facebook today. Kona & Ehime used to dig holes in our backyard, and they are pretty deep."

ママ：「今日、この写真が自分のフェイスブックに出てきた。コナくんとひめたん、裏庭でよく穴掘りしてて、またその穴が結構深かったのよね〜」

Sachi: "We took over the project from the big bother and big sister. But our skill of digging is not as good as theirs yet."

さち：「大にいにいと大ねえねえから引き継いだプロジェクトでしゅけど、わたちたちの穴掘りのスキル、まだふたりほど良くないんでしゅよね。」

Makana: "We just practiced over there today."

マカナ：「今日は、あそこで練習したの。」

Mommy: "Oh, no... I've got to fill the hole again..."

ママ：「ああ‥‥ また穴を埋めなきゃ。」

Growing big 〜大きく育っている〜

Mommy: "The big roses are blooming around the house. They are beautiful, aren't they?"

ママ：「大きなバラの花が、家の周りで咲いてる。きれいだわね〜」

Makana: "Something big is growing here, too."

マカナ：「ここでも、なんか大きいのが育ってるけど。」

Mommy: "Right. I guess the sunflower seeds got blown away by wind and landed here, or the wild birds dropped the seeds here. I wonder how tall these sunflowers are going to be."

ママ：「だね。風でひまわりの種が飛ばされてここに着陸しちゃったか、もしくは、野鳥がここに種を落としか、じゃないかしら。このひまわり、どれくらい背が高くなるのかしらね。」
