Daddy: "Let's get ribs out from the smoker."

パパ：「スモーカーから、リブを取り出そう。」

Makana: "Let's do it!"

マカナ：「そうしよう！」

Ehime: "I'm going pee-wee."

えひめ：「わたち、チッチ。」

Daddy: "Oh, these look great."

パパ：「おお、いい感じにできたよ。」

Mommy: "The smoky smell is great, too."

ママ：「スモーキーな香りもいいわ〜」

Daddy: "We have a lot of ribs to eat."

パパ：「リブ、たくさんできたなあ。」

Makana: "My sister and I can help you if you need more mouths to eat."

マカナ：「食べるお口が必要なら、ねえたんとぼくがお手伝いします。」

Mommy: "Hey, you two just ate the biscuits."

ママ：「ちょっと。二人とも、ビスケットを食べたばっかりでしょ。」

Daddy: "Let's see how the ribs are being smoked."

パパ：「リブがちゃんとスモークされているか、見てみよう。」

Mommy: "OK. How do they look?"

ママ：「うん。どんな感じ？」

Daddy: "I think they are nicely being smoked. Maybe I'll take them out from the smoker shortly."

パパ：「うまくスモークされているみたいだ。もうちょっとしたら、スモーカーから取り出そうかな。」

Mommy: "I can't wait! We'll eat some for dinner, and other are going to be saved in the air-tight bags and put the in the freezer, right?"

ママ：「待ち遠しいわあ。晩ごはんにちょっと食べて、あとは真空パックで保存してから冷凍庫に入れるのよね？」

Daddy: "That's a good idea. We don't have any time for cooking after coming back from the tasting room. This will help us get dinner ready on the busy days."

パパ：「それはいい考えだ。テイスティングルームから帰って来たら、料理をする時間はないからね。これは、忙しい日の晩ごはんにちょうどいいよ。」

Ehime: "The smoky ribs are smelling so good. I'm getting hungry again. (lick)"

えひめ：「スモーキーなリブ、とってもいい香り。わたち、またおなかがしゅいてきた（ペロッ）。」

Makana: "Ribs, ribs, ribs♪ Please come in to my stomach♪"

マカナ：「リブ、リブ、リブ〜♪　ぼくのおなかに入っておいで〜♪」

Ehime: "Is that a new song?"

えひめ：「しょれ、新しい歌？」

Makana: "Daddy is opening the bag of meat."

マカナ：「パパが、お肉の袋を開けてる〜」

Mommy: "He said that he is going to smoke the ribs."

ママ：「リブのスモーク（燻製）をするんだって。」

Ehime: "I heard the meat, so I came."

えひめ：「お肉と聞こえたので、やって来まちた。」

Mommy: "Well, daddy is going to put on the spicy seasoning. So I don't know if you get any today."

ママ：「えっと、パパがスパイシーな味付けをするから、今日はもらえるかわからないよ。」

Ehime: "Awww... spicy... I like the fruity taste."

えひめ：「あうう‥‥　スパイシー‥‥　わたちは、フルーティな味が好きなのに。」

Makana: "(smell) Daddy's hand smells like the pork."

マカナ：「（クンクン）パパのお手手、豚肉のにおいがする。」

Daddy: "Of course. I'm cooking the pork ribs."

パパ：「そりゃそうだよ。ポークリブを調理しているんだから。」

Ehime: "Ma-kun. Don't get too close. You need to show your respect."

えひめ：「マーくん、近しゅぎるのはダメでしゅよ。リスペクトを示さなきゃ。」

Daddy: "You became so mature since you got a younger brother, Ehime."

パパ：「えひめは弟ができてから、本当に大人になったな。」

Makana: "I can't stop my tail wagging."

マカナ：「ぼく、しっぽのブルンブルンを止められない。」

Daddy: "Now the smoker is ready. Let's put the meat in it."

パパ：「スモーカーの準備ができた。さあ、お肉を入れよう。」

Mommy: "OK!"

ママ：「はい！」

Daddy: "Let's put all meats in here."

パパ：「お肉全部入れちゃおうっと。」

Makana: "Let's do it♪ (smile)"

マカナ：「入れちゃおう♪（ニコッ）」

Mommy: "You look very happy, Ma-kun."

ママ：「マーくん、とってもうれしそうね。」

Ehime: "I think I'm going to sunbathe here while I'm waiting for the meat to get done."

えひめ：「わたちは、お肉が出来上がるのを待っている間、ここで日光浴ちてようかな。」

Daddy: "It's going to take some hours until they get done. Why don't you wait inside of the house?"

パパ：「お肉が出来上がるまで、数時間かかるぞ。家の中で待ってたらどうだ？」

Mommy: "That's right. Otherwise you are going to be a smoky dog. I should close the windows in the master bedroom. Otherwise our bedroom is going to be smoky."

ママ：「そうよ。じゃないとひめたん、スモーキードッグになっちゃうわよ。ママも、マスターベッドルームの窓を閉めに行かなくっちゃ。じゃないと、私たちのベッドルームが、煙でいっぱいになっちゃう。」

August 26 is Happy National Dog Day 〜8月26日は、ハッピー・ナショナル・ドッグデー〜

Ehime: "Aaaaaaaan♪ It's a big mouth contest."

えひめ：「あああああああん♪　大口コンテストでしゅよ。」

Makana: "Ahhhhh! A sudden attack is unfair! Oh, I just remembered... "

マカナ：「ああああ！　突然攻撃なんて、不公平だっ！　あ、そうだ‥‥」

Makana: "I want to go bathroom."

マカナ：「ちょっとトイレに。」

Ehime: "What? Bathroom?"

えひめ：「えっ？　トイレ？」

Ehime: "No. We just came back from outside. You'll stay with me♪"

えひめ：「ダメ〜　今お外から帰ってきたばっかりなんでしゅから。わたちとここにいてくだしゃい♪」

Makana: "Ahhhh! I just want to win at the big mouth contest!!!"

マカナ：「あああ！　ぼく、大口コンテストで勝ちたいのにっ！！！」

Daddy: "They are loud. I can't hear the morning news."

パパ：「声が大きいなあ。朝のニュースが聞こえないよ。」

Mommy: "It sounds like we are having a Happy National Dog Day."

ママ：「ハッピー・ナショナル・ドッグデーっぽいわね〜」

One hour later　1時間後

Mommy: "While Goldens are playing in the backyard, let's wash the car. Oh! I made the rainbow at the window♪"

ママ：「ゴールデンズが裏庭で遊んでいる間に、車を洗っちゃおうっと。あら！窓のところに、虹を作っちゃったわ♪」

Mommy: "I think there are some people who wash the car while their dogs are playing in the backyard. But I don't think many people who wash the car while their cows & chickens are in front of them."

ママ：「裏庭で犬たちが遊んでいる間に車を洗う人はいると思うけど、目の前に牛やにわとりがいて車を洗う人は、そんなにいないわよね。」

Memories for Ramune 〜ラムネの思い出〜

 

Mommy: "Mmm! Ramune is tasty."

ママ：「んん！　ラムネ、おいしい〜」

Daddy: "I remember when we had these in Seattle. We should appreciate our Japanese friends who gave these to us."

パパ：「シアトルで飲んだこと、覚えてるよ。これをくれた日本人のお友だちに感謝しないと、だな。」

Mommy: "Yes. Pushing a marble down to drink is fun. This reminds me of the sports day from my childhood time."

ママ：「うん。飲むのにビー玉を下に押すだなんて、楽しいわね〜　子供時代の運動会を思い出すわ。」

Daddy: "You must have a lot of good memories."

パパ：「きっと、楽しい思い出がたくさんあるんだろうね。」

Makana: "Ramune♪ Is it that delicious?"

マカナ：「ラムネかあ〜♪　それって、そんなにおいしいの？」

Mommy: "That was one of the best drinks I had when I was a child."

ママ：「子供の時に飲んだもの中で、一番おいしい飲みもののひとつだったわ。」

Makana: "Delicious drink. Huh... I can only imagine, but it sounds great♪"

マカナ：「おいしい飲み物かあ。はあ‥‥　想像することしかできないけど、聞こえはすごいいいなあ♪」

Ehime: "Don't even think that you might get some, Ma-kun. That's the drink for humans."

えひめ：「ちょっともらえるかも、なんて思わない方がいいでしゅよ、マーくん。しょれは、人間用の飲み物でしゅから。」

Makana: "But if I wish, maybe just a little..."

マカナ：「でも欲しいって言ったら、ちょっとぐらいは‥‥」

Mommy: "STOOOOOP, Mah!!!"

ママ：「マー、ストーーーーーップ！！！」

Makana: "What?"

マカナ：「へ？」

Mommy: "You can't come in the house with a lot of burrs with you!"

ママ：「くっつき虫をたくさんつけたまま、おうちに入っちゃダメッ！」

Makana: "I'm sorry. But I was already on the couch."

マカナ：「ごめーん。でもぼく、もうソファーにも乗っちゃった。」

Mommy: "Huh..."

ママ：「はあ‥‥」

Back to normal at the vineyard house 〜ぶどう園の家、通常に戻る〜

 　Mommy: "Are you sunbathing here, Ehime?"

ママ：「ひめたん、ここで日光浴？」

Ehime: "Yes, I am."

えひめ：「しょうでしゅよ。」

Ehime: "I'm glad I can finally see the blue sky."

えひめ：「やっと青い空が見れて、うれちいでしゅから。」

Mommy: "Me, too. It was so awful seeing the sky covered by the smoke."

ママ：「ママも。煙で覆われている空を見るのは、嫌な気持ちだったものね。」

Mommy: "I checked the air quality chart, and it looks like we are now safe being outside. I'm happy about it."

ママ：「空気質のチャートをチェックしたけれど、今はお外にいても安全みたいよ。よかったわ〜」

Mommy: "By the way, where is Ma-kun?"

ママ：「ところで、マーくんは？」

Ehime: "He said he is going to play and disappeared."

えひめ：「遊んでくるって言って、どこかに行っちゃったでしゅよ。」

Mommy: "I only get a bad feeling just hearing that..."

ママ：「それを聞いて、悪い予感しかしないわ‥‥」

Makana: "I'm back♪"

マカナ：「たっだいま〜♪」

Mommy: "Oh, not again! I don't know how many times I need to get rid of all burrs from your tail every day."

ママ：「ああ、もう、また！毎日何回マーくんのしっぽからくっつき虫を取ればいいのよ〜」

Makana: "I had a good time♪"

マカナ：「ぼく、楽しかった♪」

Makana: "WELCOME!!!"

マカナ：「いらっしゃいませ〜！！！」

Mommy: "Wow! You surprised me. I don't think it's the best to give a big surprise to our customers. Can you greet in a different way?"

ママ：「わあ！びっくりした〜　お客様をものすごくびっくりさせるのは、最善とは言えないわね。もうちょっと違う方法であいさつしてくれる？」

Makana: "Then..."

マカナ：「じゃあ‥‥」

Makana: "Like this?"

マカナ：「こんな感じ？」

Mommy: "That is... a little like a ghost and you are very close, Ma-kun. Why don't you give social distance?"

ママ：「それは‥‥　ちょっと幽霊みたいだし、近いわよ、マーくん。ソーシャルディスタンスは？」

Makana: "I really don't think Golden Retrievers have a rule of social distance."

マカナ：「ゴールデンレトリバーには、ソーシャルディスタンスっていうルールはないと思うんだけど。」

Mommy: "Well... I guess that is true. Now I'm kind at a loss how to train you. Mmmm......"

ママ：「まあ‥‥　確かにそうかもね。もうマーくんをどうやってトレーニングすればいいのかわからなくなったわ。うーーーんと‥‥」

Mommy: "In this case, why don't we suggest our customers to take a selfie here like this?"

ママ：「こういう時は、お客様にはここでこうやってセルフィーを撮ってもらうようにご提案するのはどうかしら？」

Daddy: "That's a good idea. It's very safe."

パパ：「それは、いいアイディアだね。とても安全だ。」

A dog wash in the smoke 〜煙の中での犬洗い〜

 

(Makana shakes)

（マカナ、ブルブル）

Mommy: "Oh, no! Not yet, Ma-kun!"

ママ：「ああ、ダメ！　まだよ、マーくん！」

Makana: "Mmm? A towel fell off."

マカナ：「んん？　タオルが落ちた。」

Mommy: "Just because you shook your body."

ママ：「だってマーくんが、体をブルブルしたんだもの。」

Ehime: "It's my turn. (smile)"

えひめ：「次、わたち〜　（ニコッ）」

Mommy: "You actually like to get washed, don't you, Ehime?"

ママ：「ひめたん、実は洗われるのが好きなんでしょう？」

Ehime: "♪♪♪"

えひめ：「♪♪♪」

Mommy: "Well, I'm happy if you are happy."

ママ：「まあ、ひめたんがハッピーなら、ママもハッピーよ。」

Mommy: "Then, let's play a 'bride'♪"

ママ：「じゃあ、”お姫様ごっこ”しましょ♪」

Ehime: "Your joke is old, mommy. You used to say it to brother Kahlua."

えひめ：「ママ、そのジョーク古いでしゅよ。カルアにいに言ってでしゅよね。」

Mommy: "I didn't know there is an old joke for the doggie world, too..."

ママ：「犬の世界にも、ジョークが古いなんてことがあるなんて、ママ知らなかったわ‥‥」

You may have recognized the photos above kind of orange-is. That's not because it was the sunset time. It was a morning, but the smoke from the wildfires is still covering up the sky in our area.

上の写真、オレンジ色っぽいことに気づかれたかもしれませんね。日の入りの時間だからじゃないですよ。朝だったんです。でもこの付近では、いまだに山火事からの煙が空を覆い尽くしています。

Can you see the chart below? This shows the quality of the air. You see "Very Unhealthy" in purple, right? That's North County of San Luis Obispo, where we live. Our tasting room is also closed today, because we cannot provide the safe environment for the customers and us. What a year of 2020 is.

 

下のチャートをご覧いただけますか？これは、空気の質を示しています。紫色のところに「Very Unhealthy」と書かれてありますよね。それが、サンルイスオビスポサンルイスオビスポの北郡、つまり私たちが住んでいるところです。お客様にも私たち自身にも安全な環境を提供できないので、今日もテイスティングルームはお休みです。2020年は、なんという年なんでしょう。
