Let's go for it, middle-aged-people! 〜中年たちよ、がんばろう！〜

When you overview the vineyard, it looks amazing.

ぶどう園全体を見ると、素晴らしく見えます。

But the vines of Petite Sirah have some growth on the trunks, and they need to be removed. This used to be a vineyard worker's job before, but he got a full-time-job somewhere else. So now, it's my job.

でもペティートシラーのぶどうの木には、木の幹からも成長しているツルがあり、それらを取り除かなくてはいけません。以前、これはぶどう園の作業員さんの仕事でしたが、その方は他でフルタイムの仕事を見つけたので、現在は私の仕事です。

Most of the growth is not hard to be removed, but some of them especially coming out from the bottom of the vines become like the root. I usually bend down, but I kneel down for the big root-ish growth. 

幹から成長している部分を取り除くのは大変ではありませんが、ぶどうの木の下から生えてきている部分は別です。根のようになってしまっているからです。通常は腰を折り曲げての作業ですが、この根っこ化したツルには、膝を折り曲げての作業になります。

I work for two rows (about 170 vines) every morning, between a dog walk and milking Happy, the cow. After that, I eat breakfast, take care of the vegetable garden and clean the chicken coop. In the afternoon, I do house errands between other work for winery. And in the evening, I load my car and go to the wine-tasting at the local hotels a few times a week. I have been really exhausted, but look. I have only two more rows to do to complete! Yay!!!

私は毎朝、犬たちのお散歩と牛のハッピーの乳しぼりの間に、二列（だいたい170のぶどうの木）の作業をします。そのあと朝ごはんを食べて、野菜畑のお世話、そしてにわとり小屋の掃除をします。午後は、ワイナリーの仕事の合間に家の用事をして、夕方は、週に数回、車に荷物を詰めて、地元のホテルでのワインテイスティングに向かいます。本当に体は疲れきっていますが、ほら。残すはあと二列のみ！やった〜！！！

Ehime: "I wonder if it means we get to play with you more next week."

えひめ：「しょれって、来週はもっと一緒に遊べるってことかな。」

Kona: "I can actually help your work."

コナ：「ぼくは、ママのお手伝いができるよ。」

Mommy: "Like what?"

ママ：「どういうお手伝い？」

Kona: "Well, plowing the garden with my paws, tasting the organic soil and..."

コナ：「えっとね、畑をぼくの足で耕したりとか、オーガニックの土の味見をしたりとか‥‥」

Mommy: "For some reason, I feel like I have more work to do after that."

ママ：「なぜだか、そのあともっとママの仕事が増える気がするわ。」
