Mommy: "You two are so close for food. Is it comfortable? You two never had a fight, right?"

ママ：「ふたり、食べ物があるのに近いよね。それ、快適？ケンカしたことないよね？」

Sunny: "We never had a fight, right, brother?"

サニー：「兄さん、私たちってケンカしたことないわよね？」

Serene: "What's fight?"

セリーン：「ケンカってなに？」

Mommy: "It's good to know that you two are good friends."

ママ：「ふたりが仲良しさんでよかったわ〜」

Ehime: "Brother Kona and I were good friends, too."

えひめ：「コナにいとわたちだって、仲良ししゃんでちたよ。」

Mommy: "Then, what would you do if Kona was eating his treat?"

ママ：「じゃあ、コナくんがおやつを食べていたらどうする？」

Ehime: "I'd steal."

えひめ：「盗む。」

Mommy: "I thought so."

ママ：「やっぱりね。」

Pet-sitting 〜ペットシッティング〜

Mommy: "Wild birds have been eating our table grapes, but there are still good grapes that I can harvest. Let's wash them♪"

ママ：「野鳥がうちの食用ぶどうを食べているけれど、まだ収穫できるきれいなぶどうがあるわ。洗っとこうっと♪」

Ehime: "Are you going to take care of Cheer and cats?"

えひめ：「チアちゃんとねこしゃんたちのお世話に行くでしゅか？」

Mommy: "Yes. Happy's foster mommy is on a trip this week. We help each other when we need a hand."

ママ：「うん。ハッピーの里親ママさんが、今週ご旅行に行かれてるからね。手が必要な時は、お互い助け合うのよ。」

At Cheer　チアちゃんのところで

Mommy: "Cheer is shy. She won't come here and eat until people disappear. I'm going to go feed cats now."

ママ：「チアちゃんは、シャイね〜　人がいなくなるまで、こっちに来て食べないんだから。じゃあ、ネコたちにごはんをあげに行こうっと。」

At cats　ネコのところで

Mommy: "Hmm... Cats won't come out and eat until I leave, too. Happy's foster mommy's animals really exist, don't they? Let's go back and see Cheer."

ママ：「うーん‥‥　ネコたちも、私が去るまで出て来て食べないのね。ハッピーの里親ママさんの動物たち、本当に存在するよね？よし。戻ってチアちゃんの様子を見てみよう。」

At Cheer　チアちゃんのところで

Mommy: "Yay! I caught her eating!"

ママ：「イエイ！食べているところを発見！」

Cheer: "Hey. You are not supposed to see me eating. I'm shy."

チア：「ちょっと〜　私が食べているところは見ないで。私、シャイなのよ。」

Ehime: "You are such a paparazzi."

えひめ：「ママって、パパラッチなんでしゅね。」

Ehime: "Well, I used to be a paparazzi for brother Kona as well."

えひめ：「まあ、わたちもコナにいのパパッラッチやってまちたけど。」

Mommy: "You were more like a stalker than a paparazzi."

ママ：「ひめたんは、パパラッチというよりストーカーだったわね。」

A puppy is coming to us! 〜パピーがやって来る！〜

Letting Kona go was difficult for us, because he was like a therapy dog for everyone in our family. He is probably at the rainbow bridge right now and looking at us with Kahlua. 

コナを逝かせることは、私たちにとってとても難しいことでした。なぜならコナは、私たち家族みんなにとっての、セラピードッグのような存在だったからです。多分今ごろは虹の橋にいて、カルアと一緒に私たちのことを見ていることでしょうね。

Going through the difficult time together made our family strong. Now, we decided to start the new journey with this adorable puppy of English Cream Golden Retriever! 

大変な時間を一緒に過ごしたことで、私たち家族は強くなりました。そして今回、このかわいらしい英国ゴールデンレトリバーのパピーと共に、新しい旅をスタートすることになりました！

This puppy is a boy, and he was born on August 18th, one week after Kona passed away. He is now growing well with his mother, father and siblings at his breeder's place in Idaho.

この子は男の子。コナが亡くなった一週間後、8月18日に生まれました。現在はアイダホ州のブリーダーさんのところで、お母さん、お父さん、兄弟姉妹と一緒にすくすく育っています。

The other day, my husband and I did FaceTime with the breeder and all the puppies. Thinking about Ehime's personality and the tasting room, we decided to choose Mr. Blue (the puppy with the blue string on his neck). The breeder said that he is an excellent choice for us, because he is mellow and sweet.

先日主人と私は、ブリーダーさん＆パピー全員と一緒に、iPhoneのフェイスタイムで話しました。えひめの性格やテイスティングルームのことを考え、私たちはミスターブルー（首に青い紐をつけている子）を選びました。ブリーダーさんは、「素晴らしい選択だ」とおっしゃいました。なぜならミスターブルーは、落ち着いた優しい子だからだそうです。

We decided to name him "Makana". The pronunciation is "ma-KA-na". It means "gift" in the Hawaiian language. The breeder is going to deliver him all the way to our house in California on October 15th. We can't wait to meet him!

名前は、「マカナ」と決めました。発音は「マカナ」と、真ん中にアクセントがあります。ハワイ語で、贈り物という意味です。10月15日、ブリーダーさんがなんとカリフォルニア州の私たちの家まで運転し、マカナを届けてくれます。マカナに会うのが待ち遠しいです！

Mommy: "I hope Ehime gets along with Makana."

ママ：「ひめたん、マカナくんと仲良くしてくれるといいね。」

Daddy: "I'm sure she will."

パパ：「きっと仲良くなるよ。」

Family obligation that she likes 〜好きな家族の義務〜

Mommy: "Let's take a selfie, Ehime. Please come closer♪"

ママ：「ひめたん、セルフィーを撮ろう。近くに寄ってちょうだい♪」

Ehime: "This is family obligation, family obligation..."

えひめ：「これは家族の義務、家族の義務‥‥」

Mommy: "You actually like this, don't you? You are leaning on me."

ママ：「ひめたん、実はこれ、好きでしょう？ママにもたれかかってるじゃない。」

Ehime: "He he. I might like to get a cuddle♪"

えひめ：「えへへ。ぎゅっとちてもらうの、好きかも♪」

Seen before? Harvesting grapes and making wine! 〜見たことある？ぶどうの収穫とワイン作り！〜

Last Saturday, we harvested Zinfandel at our contracted vineyard. I would like to write about harvesting and processing the grapes today, since you may not see this often.

先週の土曜日、契約畑のぶどう園で、ジンファンデルの収穫がありました。こういうのは、あまり見ない光景だと思うので、今日はそのぶどうの収穫とその後のプロセスについて書きたいと思います。

Mommy: "It's 7:00am. It's the first chilly day of the season."

ママ：「午前7時。今シーズン、初めての冷える日だわ。」

Harvesting crew: "We have started to pick the grapes already."

収穫チーム：「もうぶどうの収穫、始めてるよ。」

Mommy: "Thank you so much."

ママ：「よろしくお願いします。」

Leader: "Please put the grapes in this bin after you picked, OK?"

リーダーさん：「収穫したぶどうは、このコンテイナーに入れてね。わかった？」

Crew: "OK."

作業員さん：「了解。」

A worder: "I'm going to forklift the bins and put them on your pickup truck."

作業員さん：「コンテイナーを釣り上げて、あなたのピックアップトラックに載せますから。」

Daddy: "Thank you so much."

パパ：「よろしくお願いします。」

Daddy: "I'm going to take these bins to the facility. Can you go back home and feed our animals? I'm going to pick you up later, because we have more bins to take to the facility."

パパ：「ぼくは、施設にこれらのコンテイナーを運ぶね。ママは、家に帰って動物たちにごはんをあげてくれる？あとで迎えに行くから。まだ施設に持って行くコンテイナーがあるからね。」

Mommy: "OK. See you at home."

ママ：「わかった。じゃあ、おうちで会いましょ。」

At the facility　施設で

A winery worker: "I'm going to get the bins out from your pickup truck. We need to weigh the grapes."

ワイナリーの作業員さん：「ピックアップトラックから、コンテイナーを出しますね。ぶどうの重さを測りますから。」

Daddy: "OK."

パパ：「はい。」

Mommy: "These Zinfandel grapes are so beautiful."

ママ：「このジンファンデルのぶどう、とってもきれいね。」

Daddy: "Yes. And the harvesting crew did a great job. There are not many leaves in the bins."

パパ：「うん。それに、収穫チームはいい仕事をしたよ。コンテイナーに、あんまり葉っぱが入ってない。」

A winery worker: "Now, we are putting the grapes in the machine."

ワイナリーの作業員さん：「さあ、機械にぶどうを入れるよ〜」

Everybody: "OK!"

みんな：「オーケー！」

Daddy: "We guys are going to pick up leaves and whatever we don't want to see in the wine before the machine de-stems."

パパ：「ぼくたち男は、機械が茎を取り除く作業に入る前に、葉っぱを取り除いたりワインの中に入ってもらいたくないものを取り除く作業をするね。」

Mommy: "OK."

ママ：「了解。」

Mommy: "Then, I'm going to work here to pick up the stuff we don't want to see in the wine after the machine de-stems."

ママ：「じゃあ、私は、機械が茎を取り除く作業をした後、ワインに入ってもらいたくないものを取り除く作業をするわね。」

Daddy: "OK."

パパ：「了解。」

Mommy: "We wish these grapes to make the delicious wine♪"

ママ：「このぶどうたちが、おいしいワインを作ってくれますように♪」

Daddy: "Sorting process is done. Let's leave these to the wine-making team. We need to go back and get ready to go to the tasting room."

パパ：「ソーティングの過程は終わり。あとは、ワインメイキングチームに任せよう。ぼくたちは戻って、テイスティングルームに行く準備をしなきゃ。」

Mommy: "That's right. Our tasting room opens from 3:00 to 8:00pm."

ママ：「そうね。テイスティングルームは、午後3時から8時までオープンだもの。」

Ehime: "What did I do today? Of course, I took a nap at home. Because I've got to work hard at the tasting room. I'm known as 'a customer retriever'."

えひめ：「わたちは今日、なにちてたかって？もちろん、おうちでお昼寝ちてまちた。だってわたち、テイスティングルームで一生懸命働かないといけないでしゅから。わたち、”カスタマー・レトリバー”とちて、知られていましゅから。」

Alpaca? 〜アルパカ？〜

Mommy: "He he♪ I just put your hair on top your head after brushing you."

ママ：「えへへ♪　ひめたんのブラッシングしたあとの毛を、ひめたんの頭に置いちゃった。」

Ehime: "For what?"

えひめ：「何のために？」

Mommy: "We can say you are 'alpaca' for Halloween. Fu fu. That's cute♪ What do you think?"

ママ：「ハロウィーンで”アルパカ”ってって言えるじゃない。かわいいわ♪　どう思う？」

Ehime: "Do I need to become an alpaca for Halloween? I'm an English Cream Golden Retriever."

えひめ：「ハロウィーンで、アルパカよっていう必要、ありましゅか？　わたち、英国ゴールデンレトリバーなんでしゅけど。」
