For a dog who is suffering from a grief 〜悲しみに暮れる犬のために〜

 

Since Ehime passed away, Makana has had a little problem with eating. I've been trying to make some different things to top on the dry food, such as salmon soup, turkey & rice, and simply tiny cuts of cheese. It might work at the beginning, but he soon stops eating.

えひめが亡くなって以来、マカナは少ししか食べられないでいます。ドライフードのトッピング用に、色んなものを作って試しています。例えば、サーモンスープ、ターキー＆ライス、ただチーズをカットしたものなど。最初はいけそうだな、と思うのですが、すぐにマカナは食べるのをやめてしまいます。

Yesterday, I stir-fried ground turkey, brown rice, grated yellow zucchini & sweet potatoes and spinach with olive oil. Makana is allergic to chicken meat, so anything without chicken is great if he can eat it.

昨日私は、ターキーのミンチ、玄米、すりおろした黄色のズッキーニ、スイートポテト、それからほうれん草をオリーブオイルで炒めました。マカナはチキンアレルギーなので、チキンの入っていないものでマカナが食べられるものであれば、OKです。

Mommy: "How is the taste, Ma-kun? I didn't put much dry food in the bowl. Do you think you can eat?"

ママ：「マーくん、お味はどう？　ボールにドライフードはあんまり入れなかったからね。食べられそう？」

 Makana: "Well..."

マカナ：「えっと‥‥」

Makana: "Cooked food tastes great♪"

マカナ：「調理したごはんは、おいしい♪」

Mommy: "If you can, please eat some dry food, too."

ママ：「できれば、ドライフードも食べてね。」

Makana: "I think I did♪"

マカナ：「ぼく、食べたみたい♪」

Mommy: "I think you did, too! I'm glad♪"

ママ：「食べたみたいね。よかった〜♪」

We talked with the vet today. According to the vet, dogs also grieve just like humans after a family member passed away. The best thing we can do for the dog who is suffering from his / her grief is exercise, he said. So my husband & I thought that we should take him for a walk more often whenever we have a chance. I hope this information works if you ever have the same situation we have.

今日、獣医さんとお話ししました。お医者さまによると、犬も人間と同じく、家族が亡くなったあとは悲しむそうです。そんな悲しみに暮れる犬に私たちができるベストなことは運動だ、とお医者さまは言いました。それで主人と私は、チャンスがある時はいつでも、マカナをいつも以上にお散歩に連れて行こうと思いました。私たちと同じような状況にある方がいらっしゃったら、この情報がお役に立つといいなあ、と思います。
