One day before New Year's Eve　大晦日の前の日

Kahlua: "Tickle, tickle♪"

カルア：「コチョ、コチョ♪」

Ehime: "Kyahaha!"

えひめ：「キャハハ！」

Ehime: "Kyahaha! (kick!)"

えひめ：「キャハハ！（ボコッ！）」

Kahlua: "Ouch! You kicked my face, Ehime!"

カルア：「いてっ！えひめが、ぼくのお顔を蹴った！」

Mommy: "What do you have in your mouth, Kona. Show me."

ママ：「コナくん、お口になに入れてるの？見せて。」

Kona: "Please come if you can."

コナ：「来れるなら来て。」

Ehime: "Please show me!"

えひめ：「わたちに見せてくだしゃい！」

Kona: "No!"

コナ：「やだ！」

Mommy: "You two have been rolling over in the sand. Let's wash you."

ママ：「ふたりともお砂場でゴロゴロしたから、洗おうか。」

Kona: "In this cold weather?"

コナ：「この寒さの中で？」

Ehime: "With the water?"

えひめ：「お水で？」

Mommy: "You are the Golden Retriever. You are probably OK with the water, right?"

ママ：「コナくんはゴールデンレトリバーだから、お水でも大丈夫でしょう？」

Kona: "I'm a Hawaiian type of Golden Retriever."

コナ：「ぼく、ハワイアンタイプのゴールデンレトリバーなんだけど。」

Mommy: "You are the English Cream Golden Retriever. You are strong for the coldness, right?"

ママ：「ひめたんは英国ゴールデンレトリバーだから、寒さには強いでしょう？」

Ehime: "I'm a modern type of English Golden Retriever."

えひめ：「わたち、現代っ子タイプの英国ゴールデンレトリバーなんでしゅけど。」

Mommy: "Kahlua is a Shetland Sheep Dog. You don't mind getting washed in the cold weather, right?"

ママ：「カルアくんはシェットランドシープドッグだから、寒さの中で洗われることもきにしないでしょう？」

Kahlua: "I didn't roll over in the sand. Why do you need to wash me?"

カルア：「ぼく、お砂場でゴロゴロしなかったのに、どうして洗われるの？」

New Year's Eve　大晦日

Daddy: "It's a New Year's Eve today, Happy."

パパ：「ハッピー、今日は大晦日なんだよ。」

Mommy: "We are so happy that you became our family member this year."

ママ：「今年ハッピーちゃんと家族になることができて、本当にうれしいわ。」

Daddy: "And we are happy you were born this year, Joy."

パパ：「そしてジョイ、今年生まれてきてくれて、どうもありがとう。」

Joy: "My mother is interested in my food again."

ジョイ：「母さんがまたぼくのごはんを狙ってる〜」

I'm making sushi for Osechi (Japanese traditional food for New Year's Day). My husband and I went to the fish store in our small town this morning.

私は、おせち料理にお寿司を作ろうと思っています。主人と私は今朝、私たちの小さな町のお魚屋さんに行きました。

Daddy: "We should get Ahi tuna and salmon, right?"

パパ：「アヒまぐろとサーモンは買わなきゃいけないよね？」

In the afternoon, I washed the box to put Osechi and started to cook.

午後、私はおせち料理を入れる重箱を洗い、お料理を始めました。

Ehime: "I've seen the box before."

えひめ：「しょの重箱、見たことありましゅよ。」

Kahlua: "Mommy and daddy bought it when they got married."

カルア：「パパとママが結婚したときに買ったんだよ。」

Mommy: "I'm from Osaka where people use a good amount of dashi for cooking. Let's use this tasty dashi grifted from our friends."

ママ：「ママはね、お料理にたくさんお出汁を使う町、大阪の出身だからね。お友達からもらったこのおいしいお出汁を使おう。」

Kona: "Let me smell."

コナ：「においをかがせて。」

Daddy: "Yay! I love this dish."

パパ：「イエーイ！ぼく、この料理好きなんだよな〜」

Mommy: "My mother uses different veggies and different dashi to make this dish. But I can't get those in this small town. Let's use the ingredients that we can get here."

ママ：「私のお母さんは、お煮しめを作るのに別のお野菜と別のお出汁を使うんだけれど、この小さな町では手に入らないからね。ここで買える材料を使おう。」

Daddy: "Oh! Are you harvesting more vegetables?"

パパ：「おお！お野菜の収穫？」

Mommy: "Yes. I'm going to make Kohaku namasu (Daikon radish & carrot mixed with lemony vinaigrette)." 

ママ：「うん。紅白なますを作るから。」

Kona: "Where did daddy go?"

コナ：「パパ、どこに行ったの？」

Mommy: "He went to feed cows. Sweet potato dish is done."

ママ：「牛たちにごはんをあげに行ったの。スウィートポテト、できあがり。」

Ehime: "The last sun in 2015 is going down."

えひめ：「2015年最後の太陽が沈んでいく〜」

Mommy: "It's a New Year's Eve. Let's toast with the champagne♪" 

ママ：「大晦日だからね、シャンペーンで乾杯しましょ♪」

Daddy: "This looks like the commercial for Opolo winery."

パパ：「これ、オポロワイナリーのコマーシャルみたいだなあ。」

Ehime: "What a long singing show mommy and daddy are watching."

えひめ：「パパとママ、えらく長い歌番組を見てるんでしゅね〜」

Kona: "It's called Kohaku singing show. Two teams, red and white compete each other by singing songs. They watch it on Japan TV at the end of year."

コナ：「紅白歌合戦って言うんだよ。紅と白のふたつのチームが、歌を歌って競うんだ。ジャパンTVで、年の終わりに見るんだよ。」

Mommy: "Let's eat crab now and make soba noodles after this."

ママ：「さあ、カニを食べて、このあと年越しそばを作りましょうね。」

Kona: "Umm... That crab smells amazing."

コナ：「あの‥‥　そのカニ、すごくおいしそうな香りがする。」

Mommy: "I know you love seafood, but the crab is not the best for you. I'll give you salmon tomorrow."

ママ：「コナくんがシーフード好きなのは知ってるけど、カニは良くないからね。明日サーモンをあげようね。」
