Thank you, Mele. 〜メレ、ありがとね〜

There was a sad thing happened to me yesterday. I found one of our chickens dead in the chicken coop. Her name was Mele. The biggest young bird in the group. 

昨日悲しいことがありました。鶏小屋で、にわとり一羽が死んでいるのを見つけました。名前はメレ。グループの中で一番大きくて、若い鳥でした。

I moved her to the area where I tried to bury her. Her body felt a little heavier than usual, and it made me very sad. Since we haven't had the rain for a long time, the ground was so hard. I shoveled and tried to make a hole as big as possible, and I buried her. I put my two hands together and prayed her for a good sleep.

私は、埋葬する場所までメレを運びました。その体はいつもより重く感じ、それがとても悲しく思えました。長い間雨が降っていないので、地面はとっても硬かったです。シャベルでできるだけ大きな穴を掘るように努め、メレを埋めました。自分のふたつの手を合わせ、いい眠りについてくれるように祈りました。

Happy: "Mele is not going to be alone, because we are always here to eat."

ハッピー：「メレちゃん、ひとりぼっちじゃないわよ。だって私たち、いつもここで食べてるんだもの。」

Sunny: "That's right. She can see us here all the time."

サニー：「そうよ。私たちがここにいるの、ずっと見れるわよ。」

Serene: "I'm here, too."

セリーン：「ぼくだっているよ〜」

Makana: "I'm here, too. He he♪"

マカナ：「ぼくだって、ここにいるよ。えへへ♪」

Mommy: "You should move out from the garden."

ママ：「マーくんは、畑から出てちょうだい。」

Mommy: "Oh, Ehime! You are are not eating anything wrong, are you?"

ママ：「あ、ひめたん！　変なものを食べてるんじゃないでしょうね。」

Ehime: "What?"

えひめ：「え？」

Ehime: "Not yet."

えひめ：「まだでしゅけど。」

Mommy: "Don't say 'not yet', please say 'never'."

ママ：「”まだ”じゃなくて、”絶対食べません”って言ってよね。」
