Mommy: "The sun is out. Chickens are having a great time outside of the coop."

ママ：「太陽が出てる。にわとりさんたち、にわとり小屋の外に出て、楽しんでるわね。」

Mommy: "Wait a minute. Are you digging a hole again?"

ママ：「ちょっと待って。また穴掘りしてる？」

Chicken A: "No. I'm weeding today."

にわとりA：「ううん。今日は、草むしり。」

Mommy: "I see. I guess the grass is getting taller."

ママ：「なるほど。草、だんだん伸びてきてるもんね。」

Makana: "I do weeding, too. In the backyard."

マカナ：「ぼくだって、草むしりするよ。裏庭で。」

Mommy: "Accurately, at the vegetable garden in the backyard."

ママ：「正確には、裏庭の野菜畑でね。」

Daddy: "The first batch of our beer has started carbonation. It looks like there are lots of bubbles now."

パパ：「うちの初ビール醸造、炭酸化が始まった。なんか泡が多い感じがするなあ。」

Mommy: "I would like to taste it."

ママ：「味見したい。」

Sachi: "I don't need bubbles. Just honey water is great."

さち：「わたちは、泡はいりましぇんよ。はちみつ水だけでいいんでしゅけど。」

Mommy: "Honey water? Well... I guess the color is similar."

ママ：「はちみつ水？まあ‥‥ 色は似てるわね。」

Delicious food 〜おいしい食べ物〜

 

Mommy: "This is a dish I'm so proud of in our Hawaiian restaurant. Sushi-grade salmon with house-made marinade, house-made cucumber sunomono, house-made coleslaw, and house-pickled ginger. All these make delicious poke."

ママ：「これは、私たちのハワイアンレストランでとっても誇りに思う一品。自家製マリネに漬けたお寿司に使えるほど新鮮なサーモン、自家製きゅうりの酢の物、自家製コールスロー、そして自分たちで漬けた甘漬け生姜。これらのすべてが、おいしいポケを作るのよね。」

Sachi: "What!! What's delicious, you said?"

さち：「えっ！！　何がおいちいって？」

Mommy: "You are close, Sachi!"

ママ：「さっちゃん、近い！」

A cat on the property 〜敷地内のネコ〜

 

Mommy: "Jerseys are eating well. Mmm? I see something at the fence."

ママ：「ジャージー牛さんたち、ちゃんと食べてるわね。んん？フェンスのところに何かいる。」

Mommy: "Oh! That was a cat. He or she is now jumping out the fence."

ママ：「あっ！ネコだったのね。男の子か女の子かわからないけれど、フェンスからジャンプして出て行ってる。」

Sachi: "A cat... I might bark if I see a cat."

さち：「ネコ‥‥ わたち、ネコしゃんを見たらワンワン言っちゃうかも。」

Makana: "You should. A cat is not UPS or FedEx."

マカナ：「言っちゃっていいんだよ。ネコは、UPSやFedEx（宅配業者）とはちがうから。」

20 times more 〜20倍以上〜

 

Mommy: "This is a photo from 7 years ago. One of our Jersey cows, Sunny had a problem with drinking milk from her Happy at the beginning. So, I bottle-fed her for a while. She was only a Golden Retriever size at that time."

ママ：「これは、7年前の写真。うちのジャージー牛の一頭、サニーちゃんが最初、ハッピーちゃんからミルクが飲めなかったのよね。だから、しばらく私がボトルでミルクをあげてたの。当時のサニーちゃんは、ゴールデンレトリバーのサイズだったわね〜」

Sachi: "My size?"

さち：「わたちのサイズ？」

Mommy: "Yes, at that time. She probably weighs 20 times more than you do now."

ママ：「うん、当時はね。今では多分、さっちゃんの20倍くらいじゃないかな。」

Sachi: "20 times!"

さち：「20倍！」

Mommy: "There will be about two hours before we start to bottle the next wine. Let's go back home and eat lunch."

ママ：「次のワインをボトリングし始めるまで、約２時間あるから、おうちに帰ってランチを食べましょ。」 

Sachi: "Welcome back. Please wait a little second. I've got to accept this challenge."

さち：「おかえり。ちょっと待っててくだしゃいね。このチャレンジ、受けきゃいけないでしゅから。」

Makana: "You started first!"

マカナ：「さっちゃんが先に始めたんでしょ！」

Mommy: "Come here. Treat time♪"

ママ：「こっちに来て〜　おやつの時間よ♪」

Sunny: "I'm already here. Please drop it."

サニー：「もう来てます。早くちょうだい。」

Mommy: "Come this way, Serene. Otherwise Sunny is going to eat up."

ママ：「セリーンくん、こっちおいで。じゃないと、サニーちゃんが全部食べちゃうよ。」

Serene: "That's OK. Even through she ate up, I won't get angry. I'm easy-going."

セリーン：「大丈夫。サニーが全部食べても、ぼくは怒ったりしないから。ぼく、のんびり屋さんだもん。」

Sachi: "Serene is like me."

さち：「セリーンくんは、わたちみたいでしゅね。」

Makana: "No matter how you look at it, you are like Sunny."

マカナ：「どう考えても、さっちゃんは、サニーちゃんっぽいよ。」

Mommy: "Oh, no. This is the olallieberry plant. Wee asked the gardener to pull it out, but I guess the root already went under the ground and they started to grow back."

ママ：「あらら。これ、オラリーベリーだわ。ガーデナーさんにお願いして引き抜いてもらったけれど、すでに根っこが地面の下まで伸びちゃって、また成長してきたのね。」

Makana: "The one who is rooted is strong, people say, right?"

マカナ：「根付いている者は強いってことだよね？」

Mommy: "Wow, you are philosophical today."

ママ：「わあ、マーくん。今日は哲学的ね〜」

Chicken A: "Ladies, it's snack time♪"

にわとりA：「みんな〜　おやつの時間よ〜♪」

Mommy: "Mmm? What is she doing at the chicken coop?"

ママ：「んん？　にわとり小屋のところであの子、何してる？」

Mommy: "Ah! You are digging a hole!"

ママ：「あっ！　穴掘りしてるっ！」

Chicken B: "Oh, gosh. You scared me."

にわとりB：「びっくりした〜　怖がらせないでよね。」

Sachi: "What about this area today, brother Ma?"

さち：「マーにいにい。今日はこの辺りなんてどうでしゅか？」

Makana: "Hmm, it's good. But the ground here might be hard to dig a hole."

マカナ：「うーん、いいけどね。ここの地面で穴掘りするには、ちょっと固いかもね。」

Mommy: "Please don't dig a hole there. I might fall at night since I don't see well in the dark."

ママ：「そこで穴掘りしないでよね。ママ、暗闇だとよく見えないから、夜、転んじゃうかも。」

Mr. Golden Retriever: "I came here with my parents."

ミスターゴールデンレトリバー：「ぼく、両親と一緒にここに来ました。」

Mr. Golden Retriever: "They googled and found this Hawaiian restaurant. They are kind of interested in Kalbi short ribs, but I don't know what they are really going to order."

ミスターゴールデンレトリバー：「ふたりでグーグルして、このハワイアンレストランを見つけたんです。カルビショートリブに興味があるみたいだけど、何を本当に注文するかはわからないな。」

Makana: "I think they should order this chewy bone. It's kind of addictive."

マカナ：「ご両親、このカミカミを注文するべきだと思うな。病みつきになるから。」

Mommy: "For dogs, you mean. His parents are human beings."

ママ：「犬にはね。ご両親は、人間だから。」
