Happy news to tell you & harvesting 〜うれしいお知らせ＆ハーベスト〜

I have the news to tell you today. Wine Enthusiast reviewed our new wines that we bottled in June, and rated a 91 points for our 2017 Viognier! Not only that, they rated a 90 points for our 2017 Grenache Blanc and other wines were also so closed to 90! 

今日は、みなさんにお知らせがあります。ワインエンスージアスト（という定評のあるアメリカのワインの雑誌）が、私たちが６月にボトリングしたワインのテイスティングをした結果、なんと、ヴィオニエ2017年に91点という高得点をつけてくださいました！それだけではありません。グルナッシュブラン2017年にはなんと90点、その他のワインも90に近い得点をつけてくれたのです！

Receiving the points over 90 is a very high honor. Our wines & winery name are going to be in their magazine in the December Year End Buying Guide and online.

90点以上の得点を獲得するのは、とても名誉あることです。私たちのワイン＆ワイナリーの名前が、ワインエンスージアストの12月号・年度末バイイングガイドとそのオンラインバージョンに掲載される予定です。

Yesterday was one busy day. In addition to the happy news from Wine Enthusiast, we did hand-harvest Petite Sirah in our vineyard! We don't use the machine to harvest. Everyone holds the clipper and goes through the vines. That's the way we can use only premium grapes to make the high quality wine.

昨日は、とても忙しい1日でした。ワインエンスージアストからのうれしいお知らせに加え、私たちのぶどう園では、ペティートシラーの手作業での収穫があったからです！私たちは、収穫に機械を使いません。みんな木バサミを手に持ち、ぶどうの木の間を進みます。そうすることで、プレミアムのぶどうだけを使うことができます。高い質のワインを作るためです。

Our Petite Sirah is three-years-old, and it was the first harvest for them. According to the vineyard manager, there were a lot of grapes for the young vines. Great job, our Petite Sirah!

私たちのペティートシラーは、植えてから三年目で、今回が初めての収穫でした。ぶどう園のマネージャーによると、若いぶどうの木にしては、たくさんぶどうが成ったということです。ペティートシラー、えらいぞ！

Vineyard workers have their own picking container. When the container gets full of grapes, they walk to the tractor with it and put the all the grapes in the bin. 

ぶどう園の作業員さんたちは、それぞれ自分が使うコンテイナーを持ち歩きます。そのコンテイナーがぶどうでいっぱいになると、トラクターまで歩き、貯蔵コンテイナーに全てのぶどうを入れます。

We had about 30 people to harvest our Petite Sirah grapes. Everyone worked very hard.

私たちのペティートシラーのぶどうを収穫するのに、約30人の人たちが来てくださいました。みんな、とても一生懸命仕事をしてくれました。

My husband and I were worried about Petite Sirah, since it was the first harvest for these vines and also they didn't have any nets to prevent birds. But look how beautiful these grapes are! I worked hard to clean the vines in spring, and it paid off.

主人と私は、ペティートシラーのことが心配でした。ペティートシラーのぶどうの木にとっては今回が初めての収穫でしたし、鳥を防ぐためのネットがなかったからです。でも見てください、この美しいぶどうたちを！春には、ぶどうの木から余分な葉っぱを取るのに、私は一生懸命頑張りました。それが全て良い結果となりました。

Little by little, the bins on the tractor are getting full of grapes. 

少しずつ、トラクターに置かれた貯蔵コンテイナーが、ぶどうでいっぱいになっていきます。

This is the person who is in charge of taking care of our vineyard. This year, he mowed the property, disced the vineyard, watered the vines, and also he tried to rescue us when we had a big rattlesnake in the backyard.

この方は、私たちのぶどう園の管理をしてくださっている人です。今年、敷地内を草刈機で走ったり、ぶどう園の土を耕してくれたり、ぶどうの木にお水をあげてくれたりしました。それに、うちの裏庭に毒蛇のガラガラヘビがやって来たときには、私たちを助けようとしてくれました。

When the bins get full of grapes, they are going to be towed to the bottle of the hill to get weighed. The actual price is going to be decided based on the weight of the grapes.

貯蔵コンテイナーがぶどうでいっぱいになると、丘の下まで運ばれて、測りにかけられます。ぶどうの最終値は、その重さに基づいて決められます。

After being weighed, all the bins are moved onto the big truck, and delivered to the facility to be hand-sorted and be on the process that wineries like. We, as a grape grower, still have to have one more harvest for Syrah, and it should happen within one week.

測りにかけられた後、貯蔵コンテイナーは、大きなトラックの上に乗せられます。そのまま施設に運ばれ、手作業による仕分け、そしてその後はワイナリーの望む方法でのプロセスという工程になります。ぶどう栽培者としての私たちには、シラーの収穫が残っています。その収穫は、１週間以内に行われる予定です。

Ehime: "Those are a lot of grapes. I wish they were apples."

えひめ：「ぶどうがいっぱいでしゅね〜　わたちは、りんごでもよかったんでしゅけど。」

Kahlua: "I can take tomatoes, too, because they are delicious."

カルア：「ぼくは、トマトでもいいよ。おいしいからね。」

Kona: "Umm... Does it take a long time to finish this story? I'm almost falling asleep..."

コナ：「あの‥‥　この話し、長くなる？ぼく、もう寝てしまいそうなんだけど‥‥」
