Harvesting in the vineyard 〜ぶどう園の収穫〜

Mommy: "Oh, my. The picking crews came before the sunrise."

ママ：「わあ。ぶどうの収穫する人たち、日の出前に来たよ。」

Daddy: "I've got to go to work, but please take a lot of photos of harvesting Syrah."

パパ：「ぼくは仕事に行かなきゃいけないけれど、シラーの収穫の写真、いっぱい撮ってね。」

Mommy: "I will."

ママ：「うん、わかった。」

This year, we decided to sell all of our Syrah grapes to other wineries. There are two wineries who want to buy our Syrah. When to harvest the grapes depends on wineries. Yesterday, one of the wineries harvested our Syrah.

今年私たちは、すべてのシラーのぶどうを、他のワイナリーに売ることに決めました。私たちのシラーを買いたいと言って下さったワイナリーはふたつあります。ぶどうをいつ収穫するかは、ワイナリー次第です。昨日、ひとつ目のワイナリーが、私たちのシラーを収穫しました。

Mommy: "Could I take photos of you?"

ママ：「写真を撮らせてもらってもいいですか？」

Vineyard worker: "Sure."

ぶどう園の作業員さん：「いいですよ。」

Mommy: "Beautiful grapes. Some of them are becoming raisons, but it means they have a lot of sugar to make wine."

ママ：「きれいなぶどうたち。レーズンになりつつあるぶどうもあるけれど、それは、ワインを作るための糖度が高いってことだものね。」

Vineyard worker: "I'm coming to put more grapes in the bin."

ぶどう園の作業員さん：「コンテイナーに、ぶどうが入りまーす。」

Mr. N: "OK."

Nさん：「はい。」

Mr. N (on the left) is the one who takes care of our vineyard regularly. Our vineyard is a little over 10 acres (About the size of Tokyo Dome). He takes off the net from the vines right before the crews pick the grapes, make sure the grapes are put in the bin nicely, and he moves the tractor as the crews go. What a busy man!

Nさん（左側）は、日常的に私たちのぶどう園のお世話をしてくれている人です。うちのぶどう園は、10エーカーちょっとあります（東京ドームひとつ分）。Nさんは、作業員さんたちがぶどうを収穫する直前にぶどうの木からネットを外し、ぶどうがちゃんとコンテイナーに入れられているか確認し、作業員さんが動くのに合わせてトラクターを動かします。なんて忙しい人なんでしょう！

Mr. N: "We only have eight people to pick grapes this morning."

Nさん：「今朝ぶどうを収穫する作業員たちは、たったの8人なんですよ。」

Mommy: "And you need to fill six bins with the grapes. Please let me know if you need anything."

ママ：「それで、この６つのコンテイナーをぶどうでいっぱいにしなきゃいけないんですものね。もし必要なものがあれば、言ってくださいね。」

Mr. N: "Let's move on."

Nさん：「さあ、どんどん行くぞ〜」

Vineyard workers: "OK."

ぶどう園の作業員さんたち：「はい。」

We heard that the other winery is waiting for the sugar level of grapes goes up a little higher. It looks like we have the nice weather this weekend. We are hoping that helps the grapes get sweeter.

もうひとつのワイナイーは、糖度がもう少し高くなるのを待っていると聞きました。今週末は、良いお天気に恵まれるようなので、ぶどうが甘くなることを祈っています。

Day: "It was noisy around our chicken coop this morning."

デイ：「今朝は、にわとり小屋の周りが騒がしかったわね〜」

Holi: "It looks like all the strangers are gone. Let's enjoy our quiet time now."

ホリ：「知らない人たちみんな、どこかに行ってしまった見たいよ。さあ、私たちの静かな時間をエンジョイしましょ。」

Ehime: "I enjoyed hearing and seeing people this morning."

えひめ：「わたちは今朝、いろんな人を見たり話し声を聞いたりちて、楽ちかったでしゅよ。」

Kahlua: "I'm interesting in taking a nap now. Having people over is fun, but I get a little tired from it."

カルア：「ぼくはそろそろ、お昼寝するかな。人が来てくれるのは楽しいけれど、ぼく、ちょっと疲れちゃうから。」

Kona: "Wait! I want to take a nap with you, Kahlua!"

コナ：「待って〜！ぼく、カルアくんと一緒にお昼寝したい！」
