Daddy's beef-smoking day 〜パパのビーフ・スモーキング・デイ〜

Daddy: "Let's make smoky beef brisket today. First, I've got to season well."

パパ：「今日は、スモーキー・ビーフブリスケットを作ろう。まず、ちゃーんと味付けをしておかなきゃ。」

Ehime: "They are huge blocks of the meat♪ (smile)"

えひめ：「大きなお肉のかたまり〜♪ （ニコッ）」

Daddy: "It's 7:45am now. If I put these in the smoker now, they should be done in the afternoon."

パパ：「今は午前7時45分。今スモーカーに入れておけば、午後には出来上がるな。」

Mommy: "It looks like we can have a good amount of stock in the freezer. A busy day like today when we need to work in the tasting room, we usually come back home and eat at 9:00pm. There is no time for cooking. I appreciate if I can find something tasty in the freezer."

ママ：「冷凍庫にだいぶ保存できそうね。今日みたいにテイスティングルームで働く忙しい日は、家に帰ってきて食べるのが午後9時。お料理する時間がないんだもの。冷凍庫においしいものが入っていたら、本当にありがたいわ。」

Daddy: "Let's put more pellets in the smoker."

パパ：「スモーカーに、ペレットをもっと入れよう。」

Makana: "You are staring at the meat, sister! Are you trying to have the meat all to yourself!?"

マカナ：「ねえたん、お肉をじっとみてる！　独り占めする気！？」

Ehime: "I'm not thinking that! That's what YOU are thinking!"

えひめ：「しょんなこと、考えてましぇんよ！　しょれは、マーくんでしょ！」

Daddy: "♪♪♪"

パパ：「♪♪♪」

Makana: "Is the meat done yet? (wagging the tail)"

マカナ：「お肉、もうできた？（尻尾ブルンブルン）」

Ehime: "I'm hungry again♪"

えひめ：「わたち、またおなかしゅいちゃった♪」

Daddy: "It has been only three minutes. It's going to take 5-6 hours to get done in the smoker. Please be patient."

パパ：「まだ3分しか経ってないよ。スモーカーで出来上がるまで、５−６時間はかかるんだよ。ガマン、ガマン。」

Our Brand Ambassadors 〜我が社のブランド・アンバサダー〜

Daddy: "Oh! You, our brand ambassador, look like a super model, Ehime."

パパ：「おっ！　うちのブランド・アンバサダーのえひめ、スーパーモデルみたいだぞ。」

Ehime: "Thank you♪"

えひめ：「ありがと♪」

Mommy: "I always thought you are great for photo shooting. Can you look that way now?"

ママ：「ひめたんは、写真撮影にはすごく向いてるってずっと思ってたのよね。今度は、あっちを向いてくれる？」

Ehime: "Like this?"

えひめ：「こうでしゅか？」

Mommy: "That's right. It's perfect♪ Now, would you like to try to model, Ma-kun?"

ママ：「そうそう。パーフェクトよ♪　さあ、マーくんもモデル、やってみる？」

Makana: "Like this?"

マカナ：「こう？」

Mommy: "I mean... You look stiff. Can you relax a little more?"

ママ：「なんか‥‥　固いのよね。もうちょっとリラックスしてくれる？」

Makana: "Then, like this?"

マカナ：「じゃあ、こう？」

Mommy: "Umm... You look like you are glaring at the camera. Why don't you look that way, like your sister did?"

ママ：「あの‥‥　カメラをにらんでるみたいなのよねー。あっちの方を向いてみない？　ひめたんがやったみたいに。」

Makana: "......"

マカナ：「‥‥」

Makana: "Something like this?"

マカナ：「こんな感じ？」

Mommy: "Fu fu. It's kind of... funny. I mean... You look cute, Ma-kun."

ママ：「うふふ。なんか‥‥　笑える。つまり‥‥　かわいいよ、マーくん。」

Hair cut at night 〜夜のヘアカット〜

Makana: "Oh, that's mine!"

マカナ：「あっ、それ、ぼくのっ！」

Ehime: "This reminds of me something..."

えひめ：「なんかこういうの、覚えがあるような‥‥」

Makana: "Your thing is my thing. I'll take this♪"

マカナ：「ねえたんものは、ぼくのもの。これ、ぼくがもらいます♪」

Ehime: "Oh, I used to say exactly the same thing to brother Kona."

えひめ：「ああ、わたちもコナにいに、まったく同じことを言ってたんだった。」

Mommy: "Hmm... I tried to cut my own hair and make layers. I don't think it's bad, but it's not the same as my hair dresser in Las Vegas does. I miss her."

ママ：「うーん‥‥　自分で髪の毛を切ってレイヤーを入れてみたんだけどな。悪くはないけど、やっぱりラスベガスのヘアードレッサーさんがやってくれるのと同じだとは言えないわね。ヘアドレッサーさんが、恋しいわ〜」

 Ehime: "Mmm? There are some white hairs on mommy's T-shirt." 

えひめ：「ん？　ママのTシャツに、白い毛がついてましゅよ。」

Makana: "Oh, that? I put my hair on it. She cut so much hair, and she was saying that her head feels light. So I think she miss having hair."

マカナ：「ああ、あれ？　ぼくがつけておいたの。ママ、たくさん毛を切って、頭が軽くなったって言ってたから。毛が無くなってさびしいのかなあ、と思って。」

Ehime: "Ma-kun, I don't think she appreciates that. In the human's world, white hair is called grey hair. Many women dye their hair because they don't want to show it."

えひめ：「マーくん。しょれは、ママには喜ばれないと思いましゅよ。人間の世界では、白い毛は白髪って呼ばれて、多くの女性は、しょれを見せたくないから毛を染めるんでしゅから。」

Makana: "Awww..."

マカナ：「あううう‥‥」

99F outside 〜お外は37℃超え〜

Daddy: "Oh. It's steak bento today."

パパ：「お、今日はステーキ弁当なんだね。」

Mommy: "Right. You BBQed steak on the Independence Day. Leftover meat made the great bento lunch."

ママ：「うん。パパが、独立記念日にステーキをバーベキューしてくれたからね。残り物のお肉で、いいお弁当のランチができたわ。」

Makana: "I'm glad you two are having a good time. But I feel so warm today."

マカナ：「ふたりは楽しそうでいいね。でもぼくは、今日とっても暑いんだ。」

Daddy: "It's 99F outside. I'm sure it's very warm especially for you, who was born in Idaho."

パパ：「外は37℃を超えてるからな。アイダホ州生まれのマカナには特に、すごく暑いだろうね。」

Mommy: "Are you feeling warm, too, Ehime?"

ママ：「ひめたんも暑いの？」

Ehime: "No. I like the heat. I just feel sleepy after eating biscuit."

えひめ：「ちがいましゅよ。わたちは暑いのが好きでしゅから。ただ、ビスケットを食べたから眠いんでしゅよ。」

マカナ：「特には何も。ところでねえたん。そうやって、ぼくのお尻を押さなきゃダメ？」

Ehime: "You can see well this way, right?"

えひめ：「こうやると、よく見えるでしょ？」

17th year has started. 〜17年目の始まり〜

When we came back home from work, we saw Sunny (the right one with the horns) was outside of the fence! I don't know how that happened.... But the cows are a pack animal, they don't usually like to be away from their pack. Sunny's mother, Happy was inside of the electric fence, so she probably didn't want to go anywhere else.

仕事から帰ってくると、サニー（右側のツノのある子）が、フェンスの外に出ていました！どうしてそんなことが起こったのでしょう‥‥　でも牛たちは、群れをなす動物で、たいていは、自分の群れから離れることはありません。サニーのお母さんであるハッピーも、電気フェンスの内側にいたので、多分サニーもどこにも行きたくなかったのでしょうね。

My husband took the dogs out from the car and put them in the house. He came out to help me put Sunny back inside of the fence using the hay. I'm glad my husband was there!

主人は車から犬たちを連れ出して、家の中に入れました。そして、干し草を使ってフェンスの中にサニーを戻す手伝いをするために、出てきてくれました。主人がいてくれてよかった！

By the way, my 17th year in the USA has started today. I arrived at America on July 4th, 2004, and I created so many memories since then. I'm so thankful I can still be here with a smile, and I want to send my extra big thank-you and love to my husband and dogs for being my side whatever the situation is.

 ところで、今日、私のアメリカでの17年目がスタートしました。2004年の7月4日、私はアメリカに到着しました。それ以来、たくさんの思い出ができました。笑ってここにいられることを、とても感謝しています。そして、どんな状況であっても、ずっと私のそばにいてくれる主人と犬たちには、特大の感謝と愛情を送りたいです。

Makana: "Oh, no problem. I'm always by your side as long as you give me four cups of the dog food a day."

マカナ：「ああ、全然大丈夫だよ。ドッグフードを1日４カップくれる限り、ぼくはいつでもママのそばにいるから。」

Ehime: "I would appreciate more if you give me dry apples."

えひめ：「わたちは、干しリンゴをくれたらもっと感謝ちましゅけど。」
