A surprise gift from my husband 〜主人からのサプライズギフト〜

Mommy: "This is a surprise gift from daddy. He secretly ordered and gave it to me today. It's a schedule book with the messages based on Twitter's Thoughts of Dog. Would you like to read?"

ママ：「これ、パパからのサプライズギフトなの。こっそりオーダーして、今日ママにくれたのよ。スケジュール帳で、ツイッターの”Thoughts of Dog"に基づいたメッセージが載ってるのよ。読んでみる？」

Makana: "Umm... I'm not good at reading yet..."

マカナ：「あの‥‥　ぼく、まだ読むのが得意じゃないんだけど‥‥」

Makana: "Can you read for me, sister?"

マカナ：「ねえたん、代わりに読んでくれる？」

Ehime: "I'm sleepy."

えひめ：「わたち、眠い。」

Mommy: "OK, OK. I'm going to read some for you."

ママ：「わかった、わかった。ママがちょっと読むわね。」

Mommy: "Good morning. The human is working from home today. But I require attention. So I'm going to sit in their lab, and randomly press buttons on their computer until they give up."

ママ：「おはよう。ぼくのおうちの人、今日は家で仕事をしています。でもぼく、かまって欲しいの。だから、お膝に座って、ダダダッとコンピュターのボタンを押すの。あきらめてくれるまで。」

Makana: "That sounds like my sister. I've seen my sister put her paw on mommy's computer and made a lot of mmmm's on her blog."

マカナ：「なんか、ねえたんみたい。ねえたんがママのコンピューターに手を置いて、ママのブログにたくさんmの文字を入れたの、見たことあるもん。」

Ehime: "I didn't do such a thing.... Did I?"

えひめ：「しょんなこと‥‥　ちたかな？」

Mommy: "We were at the store today. And I found a stuffed penguin that I really fancied. I tried to carry it out, but was stopped before the exit. I am not a criminal. I just have no money."

ママ：「今日は、お店に行きました。ぼく、とっても気に入ったペンギンのぬいぐるみを見つけて、お口にくわえたの。でもお店を出る前に止められちゃった。ぼくは、犯罪者じゃないんだよ。ただ、お金がないだけ。」

Ehime: "Right. If you can't run fast enough, you'll get caught."

えひめ：「しょうなんでしゅよね。速く走れなかったら、捕まっちゃうんでしゅよね。」

Makana: "You haven't done it before, have you?"

マカナ：「もしかして、やったことがあるなんてことはないよね？」

Mommy: "I know there's bad in the world, and it would be silly to pretend it isn't there. But for now, here's my leash and a few licks on your hand to convince you that one day, we will be alright."

ママ：「世界に悪があるってことは知ってるよ。そして、それがないことのように振る舞うのは、愚かなことだってことも。でも今はね、はい、これ、ぼくのリードと手にチュッチュ。いつか、みんな大丈夫になるよって納得してもらえるように。」

Makana: "He is talking about pretty good things. (a glance)"

マカナ：「結構いいこと言ってるなあ。（チラッ）」

Ehime: "Zzzz...."

えひめ：「Zzzz....」

Makana: "Should I study how to read?"

マカナ：「読み方、練習しようかな？」

Mommy: "Good for you."

ママ：「えらいわね。」

Typical American summer dessert 〜アメリカの定番、夏のデザート〜

Mommy: "I have pretty ripe peaches in the kitchen. Let's make Peach Crisp for dessert tonight."

ママ：「キッチンに、かなり熟したピーチがあるから、今夜のデザートに、ピーチクリスプを作ろう。」

Makana: "Mommy, I'm hungry. It's almost 6:00pm."

マカナ：「ママ〜　ぼく、おなかすいた。そろそろ午後6時だけど。」

Mommy: "OK. I just need to put these in the STAUB pan."

ママ：「わかった。これ、ストウブのフライパンに入れるだけだから。」

Ehime: "I'm starving. I can't move any more..."

えひめ：「わたち、飢えちゃって、もう動けない‥‥」

Mommy: "You always collapse without hesitation in the middle of the place."

 ママ：「ひめたんは、いつも真ん中で堂々と倒れるのよね。」

Mommy: "I'm going to put the oat toppings on the peaches. After putting the pan in the oven, I'll get your dinner ready, OK?"

ママ：「オート麦のトッピングをピーチの上に乗せるよ。オーブンにフライパンを入れたら、ふたりの晩ごはんの用意をするわね。」

Makana: "I'm going to collapse here then."

マカナ：「じゃあ、ぼく、ここで倒れてます。」

Mommy: "Almost ready. I just need to put the hot water in the bowls."

ママ：「もうすぐよ。あとは、ふたりのボールにお湯を入れるだけ。」

Makana: "There is something in your bowl that is not in my bowl."

マカナ：「ねえたんのボールに入っていて、ぼくのボールには入っていないものがある。」

Ehime: "That must be Agariccs. It prevents cancer, I heard."

えひめ：「きっとアガリクスでしゅよ。ガン予防だって。」

Mommy: "OK, eat!"

ママ：「はい、食べて！」

Makana: "Phew, finally."

マカナ：「ふう、やっとだ。」

Ehime: "Oh, there is flaxseed oil in it, too."

えひめ：「あ、アマニオイルも入ってる。」

Mommy: "Let's stay healthy together."

ママ：「一緒に健康でいましょうね。」

An hour later　1時間後

Mommy: "Darling, dinner is ready. It's Salmon Pasta with Vegetables and Peach Crisp for dessert."

ママ：「パパ〜、晩ごはんできたよ。野菜入りサーモンのパスタと、デザートはピーチクリスプよ。」

Daddy: "It's the summer dessert♪ It looks like we can have this dessert the next three days."

パパ：「夏のデザートだ〜♪　これから三日間は、このデザートを食べるんだね。」

New announcement 〜新しい発表〜

Today, California's Governor announced that all bars are shut down, and wineries & restaurants are outdoor or patio service only.

今日カリフォルニアの州知事が、州内のすべてのバーの営業停止、そしてワイナリー＆レストランは、アウトドアやパティオでの営業のみ許可することを発表しました。

As a small business owner, my husband & I put a lot of thoughts to keep our business going on. We've been doing everything we could do so far, such as cleaning and sanitizing all the tables, chairs, counters, bathroom, doors, windows outside seating area and the patio gates every time customers leave. These have been taking a lot of effort and time for us, especially when I'm working in the tasting room by myself. And it still doesn't seem to be enough. 

小規模ビジネスオーナーとして、主人も私も自分たちのビジネスをどうやって続けていくか、たくさん考えました。私たちはこれまで、できることをすべてやってきました。テーブル、いす、カウンター、バスルーム、ドア、窓、外のシーティングエリア、パティオのゲートの至るまで、すべてのクリーニング＆サニタイズを、お客様が帰られるたびにやりました。これらのことには、たくさんの労力と時間がかかります。特に、私が一人でテイスティングルームで切り盛りしているときは、本当に大変です。それでもまだ、十分ではないのですね。

We really appreciate when we see people take their responsibility of keeping the social distance, wearing the masks, hand-sanitizing and so on. The only way we can stop raising the number of positive patients of Covid-19 right now is that everyone takes own responsibility. 

ソーシャルディスタンスを保ち、マスクをつけ、ハンドサニタイザーを使って自分たちの責任を果たしている人たちを見ると、本当にありがたいなあ、と思います。コロナウィルスの陽性患者数の増加を止める唯一の方法は、現在、みんなが自分の責任を果たすことです。

Ehime: "Are we stopping going to the tasting room again?"

えひめ：「テイスティングルームに行くの、また止めるの？」

Mommy: "That's not true. We can still open for patio wine."

ママ：「それはちがうよ。まだ、パティオでのワインは、営業できるから。」

Makana: "I can bring the tasting menu to the customers in the patio."

マカナ：「ぼく、パティオにいるお客様に、テイスティングのメニューを持っていける〜」

Ehime: "Before you show the menu to the customers, the menu will be chewed up just like your toy in your mouth now."

えひめ：「お客様にメニューを見せる前に、噛んでぐちゃぐちゃになりましゅよ、今マーくんのお口にあるおもちゃみたいに。」

Makana: "I don't have anything in my mouth."

マカナ：「ぼく、お口になーんにも持ってないもん。」

Ehime: "You just dropped it."

えひめ：「今落とちたでしょ。」

Makana: "Then, what about you? Can you bring the menu to the customers?"

マカナ：「じゃあ、ねえたんはどうなの？　お客様に、メニューを持っていける？」

Ehime: "My job is usually being cute♪"

 えひめ：「わたちのお仕事はたいてい、かわいくちてることでしゅから♪」

Prepping for smoking salmon today 〜今日はスモークサーモンの準備〜

Ehime: "Starting now? It's almost 10:00pm."

えひめ：「今から？　もう夜の10時でしゅよ。」

Daddy: "I know, I know. But it's fun, right? (smile)"

パパ：「知ってる、知ってる。でも、楽しいだろう？（ニコッ）」

Ehime: "For who?"

えひめ：「誰が？」

Daddy: "The new recipe book that came with the new smoker had a little different recipe to make smoke salmon from the old book. I still like the old recipe."

パパ：「新しスモーカーについてきた新しいレシピの本には、前の本とはちょっとちがうスモークサーモンのレシピが載ってたんだ。でも、やっぱり前のレシピが好きだな。」

Mommy: "I loved smoke salmon from the old recipe. Are we using that recipe?"

ママ：「私も、前のレシピで作ったスモークサーモンが好きだった。あのレシピを使う？」

Daddy: "Let's do it."

パパ：「そうしよう。」

Makana: "Salmon... Oh! Our training treats are made of salmon, right?"

マカナ：「サーモン‥‥　あ、そうだ！　ぼくたちのトレーニング用のおやつが、サーモンで作られてるんだよね？」

Mommy: "That's right."

ママ：「そうよ。」

Makana: "But why now? I'm getting sleepy."

マカナ：「でも、なんで今？　ぼく、眠くなってきた。」

Daddy: "We have no choice. We were working late in the tasting room. Let's make brine and finish here tonight."

パパ：「仕方ないよ。テイスティングルームで、遅くまで働いてたんだから。サーモンをつけておく塩水を作ったら、今夜はここで終わりにしよう。」

Next morning　次の日の朝

Daddy: "Let's slice the salmon and put the pieces in the brine."

パパ：「サーモンをスライスして、つけ汁に入れよう。」

Ehime: "I want to see it."

えひめ：「わたち、見たい。」

Daddy: "This could be the right amount for one potion, right?"

パパ：「これくらいで、だいたい一人用かな？」

Makana: "What? That's too small. I think one potion is the left one."

マカナ：「え〜？　そんなの小さすぎるよ。一人用は、左の分じゃないかな。」

Daddy: "That's too big."

パパ：「それは、大きすぎるよ。」

Ehime: "The ones who can eat the big piece like that are only mommy and brother Kona."

えひめ：「しょんな大きなのを食べるのは、ママとコナにいくらいでしゅよ。」

(Goldens are staring)

（じーーーっ）

Daddy: "Well... If you sit and stare at the salmon like that, that's like Kona for sure."

パパ：「えっと‥‥　そうやって座ってじっとサーモンを見つめるのは、確かにコナみたいだな。」
