Monday. Going out in the car No.1 〜月曜日。車でお出かけ No.1〜

 

Sachi: "It has been a long time since I got in the car."

さち：「車に乗るの、久しぶり〜」

Daddy: "It would have been great if you got in the car by yourself."

パパ：「ひとりで車に乗ってくれたらよかったんだけどな。」

Makana: "I wonder if we go to Las Vegas♪"

マカナ：「ラスベガスに行くのかなあ♪」

Daddy: "Well..."

パパ：「えっと‥‥」

Daddy: "We are here at the dog park."

パパ：「ドッグパークだよ。」

Sachi: "No one is here."

さち：「誰もいない。」

Mommy: "We are late. But we had to work some this morning. Oh, well. We can wait a little bit. If no one arrives, then we can go."

ママ：「遅れちゃったからね。でも今朝、お仕事しなきゃいけなかったから。まあ、仕方がない。ちょっと待って、誰も来なかったら、行きましょ。」

Hamburger patties 〜ハンバーガーのパテ〜

 

Daddy: "I'm going to pack the hamburger patties that I just cooked, and put them in the freezer. That way, I can warm them up for lunch next week."

パパ：「今調理したハンバーガーのパテを包んで、冷凍庫に入れよう。そしたら来週、ランチ用に温められるから。」

Sachi: "Then, I'm going to stay between the counter and daddy. That way, I might get good luck."

さち：「じゃあわたちは、カウンターとパパの間にいよう。そちたら、幸運が訪れるかもちれないから。」

Daddy: "What?"

パパ：「え？」

Makana: "I'm a good boy. I don't want to bother daddy packing hamburger patties, so I'll stay here. Do I get good luck, too?"

マカナ：「ぼくはいい子だから。パパがハンバーガーのパテを包むの、邪魔したくないから、ここにいる。ぼくにも、幸運が訪れる？」

Cruising Nite 〜クルージングナイト〜

Mommy: "Cruisin Nite, the event that the city put on last night was so much fun. "

ママ：「昨日、町開催のクルージングナイト、とてもおもしろかったわ〜」

Mommy: "There were some cars that were leaning on one side while crusing on the road."

ママ：「クルージング中の道中、片側に偏ってる車も何台かいたのよ。」

Mommy: "We had a Grab & Go station in front of our business. I put a Golden Retriever on the table. Cute, right?"

ママ：「うちのビジネスの前に、グラブ＆ゴーのテーブルをセットしてね、テーブルには、ゴールデンレトリバーも置いたのよ。かわいいでしょ？」

Sachi: "Mmmm. You had another Golden Retriever when you have me & brother Ma."

さち：「むむむ。わたちやマーにいにいというものがありながら、他のゴールデンレトリバーを置くなんて。」

Mommy: "Well... You two together makes more than 150 pounds. I don't think I could have you on top of the table."

ママ：「だって‥‥　ふたりを合わせたら、68キロ以上にもなるんだもの。テーブルの上には、置けないと思うわ。」

At this late hour 〜こんな真夜中に〜

Mommy: "Mmm? What are the lights over there? I wonder if the vineyard workers somewhere are working. What do you think, Sachi?"

ママ：「んん？　あそこの光、なに？　どこかのぶどう畑の作業員さんたちが仕事をしているのかしら。さっちゃん、どう思う？」

Sachi: "Umm... I'm a little busy right now. Can you ask brother Ma?"

さち：「あの‥‥　今ちょっと忙ちいでしゅから、マーにいにいに聞いてくれましゅか？」

Mommy: "OK. What do you think, Ma-kun?"

ママ：「わかった。マーくん、どう思う？」

Makana: "I'm a little busy, too."

マカナ：「ぼくもちょっと忙しい。」

Mommy: "Everyone says busy. What is everyone doing at this late hour?"

ママ：「みんな、忙しいって言っちゃって。こんな真夜中に、みんな一体何してるの？」

A great judge 〜素晴らしい審査員〜

 

Mommy: "That's the vintage 2025, the fresh well water in the wine country. How's the taste?"

ママ：「それは、ヴィンテージ2025年もの、ワインカントリーの新鮮な井戸水。お味はどう？」

Makana: "It tastes great. But it has a little taste of Sachi. Silver medal."

マカナ：「素晴らしいよ。でも、ちょっとさっちゃんのお味がする。シルバーメダル。」

Sachi: "What!? It should be Gold medal!"

さち：「えっ！？　ゴールドメダルでしゅよ！」

Makana: "This water tastes nice and clean without Sachi's aroma and taste. Gold medal."

マカナ：「こっちのお水は、おいしくてきれいなお水。さっちゃんのアロマも味もしない。ゴールドメダル。」

Sachi: "That should be Bronze!"

さち：「しょれは、銅メダルでしゅよ！」

Under the blanket 〜ブランケットの下で〜

Daddy: "Mm? Why are you under the blanket, Makana? You are supposed to be on the blanket, right?"

パパ：「んん？　マカナ、なんでブランケットの下にいるんだ？　ブランケットの上にいるべきだろう？」

Makana: "Well..."

マカナ：「だって‥‥」

Makana: When I got here, the blanket was not on the bed. Mommy put the blanket on after I got on the bed. Then I started to feel comfortable, and I feel a little sleepy now..."

マカナ：「ここに来た時、ベッドの上にブランケットが載ってなかったんだ。ぼくがベッドに乗ってから、ママがブランケットを置いたんだよ。そしたら気持ちよくなってきて、今度は眠くなってきて‥‥」

Daddy: "Oh, he dozed asleep."

パパ：「あ、寝落ちした。」

Daddy: "Look, honey. There is a wild cat taking a nap at our entranceway."

パパ：「ママ、見て。玄関で、野良ネコがお昼寝してるよ。」

Mommy: "You are right! He hasn't noticed yet that two Golden Retrievers are living here."

ママ：「ホントだ！　二頭のゴールデンレトリバーがここに住んでるってこと、まだ気づいてないのね。」

Daddy: "Goldens also haven't noticed yet that a cat is here."

パパ：「ゴールデンズも、ここにネコがいるってことに気づいてないな。」

Next day　次の日

Sachi: "Wooo, there is a jackrabbit in the vineyard. Oh! She ran away."

さち：「ううう、ぶどう畑にジャックラビットがいある。あっ！逃げた。」

Mommy: "It looks like Sachi noticed this time."

ママ：「さっちゃん、今回は気づいたようね。」

The bar stools 〜カウンターチェア〜

Mommy: "Daddy & mommy built some bar stools for the restaurant patio today."

ママ：「パパとママ、今日、レストランのパティオ用に、カウンターチェアを組み立てたのよ。」

Mommy: "Our customers sit like this. There will be the big events in the downtown this weekend, and many classic cars are going in front of our business. Sitting on the cushin feels good, don't you think?"

ママ：「お客様は、こういう感じに座るのよ。今週末、ダウンタウンで大きなイベントがあってね、クラシックカーがたくさん、うちのビジネスの前を通るのよ。クッションに座ってるのって、いいでしょう？」

Makana: "I guess. But I don't mind sleeping on the cold floor in summer."

マカナ：「だね。でもぼくは、夏に冷たい床の上で寝るの、全然大丈夫だけど。」

Mommy: "I wish you are able to pick up your hair after that, too."

ママ：「その後、毛も片づけてくれるといいんだけど。」

The orange sky 〜オレンジ色のお空〜

 

Mommy: "Oh, no. The sky looks even more orange-ish this morning. The wildfire notification on my phone says that the fire burned more than 104.000 acres."

ママ：「ああ。今朝、お空がもっとオレンジっぽくなってる。ケイタイの山火事通知では、火事が104,000エーカー以上を燃やしたって。」

Makana: "I'm not sure how large that is, but the number you just said sounds big. I hope both humans and animals evacuated from the dangerous area."

マカナ：「それがどれくらいの大きさかはわからないけれど、今ママが言った数字は、大きいね。人間も動物も、危険なエリアから避難しているといいけど。」

Smoke from wildfire 〜山火事の煙〜

 

Mommy: "There is a big wildfire burning in the southern area of our county."

ママ：「うちの郡の南エリアで、今も燃えている大きな山火事があるの。」

Mommy: "We don't smell it here, but we can see the smoke in the sky. Our hearts go out to those who are impacted by the wildfire."

ママ：「ここでは、においはしないけれど、お空に煙が見える。山火事の影響を受けていらっしゃる方々のことを思うと、心が痛むわね。」

Sachi: "We are impacted by not being fed breakfast. Doesn't your heart go out to us?"

さち：「わたちたちは、朝ごはんをもらっていない影響を受けてる。心、痛まない？」

Makana: "You should come back in the house now. Otherwise she might break the door."

マカナ：「ママは、早くおうちに入った方がいいよ。じゃないとさっちゃん、ドアを壊しちゃうかも。」

Mommy: "I'm scared now."

ママ：「なんか、怖いわ。」

Tomatoes that are growing naturally from the ground 〜地面から自然に育っているトマト〜

Mommy: "We were surprised seeing the sunflowers that we didn't plant grew from the ground naturally this summer. Now I see mini tomatoes that we didn't plant are growing naturally here. How amazing California is!"

ママ：「今年の夏、自分たちで植えてないひまわりが地面から自然に育っているのを見て驚いたけれど、今度は、自分たちで植えてないミニトマトがここで自然に育ってる。カリフォルニアってすごいわね〜！」

Makana: "Tomatoes!"

マカナ：「トマト〜！」

Mommy: "Did you like tomatoes that much?"

ママ：「マーくん、そんなにトマト好きだった？」

Sachi: "I'll eat them!"

さち：「わたち、食べる〜！」

Mommy: "Not ripe yet!"

ママ：「まだ熟れてない！」

Mommy: "I went to get hair cut, created the new cocktail recipe, and made some sushi using cucumbers from our neighbor friends. I say it was a nice day off from work for me today."

ママ：「ヘアカットに行ったし、新しいカクテルのレシピを作ったし、ご近所さんのお友だちから頂いたきゅうりを使ってお寿司を作ったし。今日は、仕事からの1日休みだったわね。」

Sachi: "I stayed home by myself."

さち：「わたち、ひとりでお留守番だった。」

Makana: "Umm... You might have forgotten, but I was at home, too."

マカナ：「あの‥‥ さっちゃんは忘れてるかもしれないけれど、ぼくもおうちにいたんだよ。」
