Mommy's mistake 〜ママの大失敗〜

"Did you see mommy was squeezing oranges this afternoon, Ehime?"

「ひめたん？今日のお昼、ママがオレンジをしぼってたの、見た？」

"I saw. She didn't have to work so hard for me♪"

「見まちたよ。ママ、しょんなに、わたちのためにガンバってくれなくてもいいのに♥」

"It wasn't for you. For daddy. She wants him to get better."

「ひめたんにじゃないよ、パパにだよ。早くよくなってもらいたいんだって。」

"Oh, it wasn't for me? Shock..."

「な〜んだ。わたちのじゃなかったんでしゅか？ショック‥‥」

"Speaking of mommy, do you know anything about her mistake?"

「ママと言えば、大失敗の話し、知ってる？」

"Oh, that one. About our blog, isn't it?"

「ああ、あれね。わたちたちのブログでしゅよね？」

"Right. She changed her setting two months ago, and she didn't know how to read comments that people wrote until recently."

「そうそう。２ヶ月ほど前に、ママ、設定をちょっと変更したんだ。で、つい最近まで、みんなが書いてくれたコメントの読み方、わからなかったんだよ。」

"How does it happen? All she needs to do is clicking "comment", right?"

「なんでしょうなるんでしゅかね？’コメント’って書いているところを、クリックしゅればいいだけでしゅよね？」

"I know what happened. Mommy and any machine is a very bad match."

「ぼくはなんでだか知ってるよ。ママと機械ものって、本当に相性が悪いんだ。」

"When we were still living in Seattle, mommy drove our car to the next town one day. That car suddenly stopped working, and mommy was not able to start engine again."

「まだぼくたちがシアトルに住んでいたとき、ある日ママが隣町まで車を運転して行ったんだ。そしたら突然車が動かなくなって、エンジンをスタートさせることができなくなってしまったんだよ。」

"When we were living in Hawaii, mommy clicked some weird thing, and she got a virus on her computer."

「ぼくたちがハワイに住んでいたときは、ママが変なところをクリックして、コンピューターがウィルス感染してしまったんだ。」

"Daddy spent a long time to fix her computer. I was still a cute puppy♥ Hehe♪"

「パパが長い時間をかけて、ママのコンピューターを治したんだよ。ぼくはまだかわいいパピーだったよ♥　えへへ♪」

"Mommy touches everywhere even though she doesn't understand the machine. That's a problem."

「ママ、機械もののことまったくわからないくせに、あちこち触るんでしゅよ。しょれが一番の問題でしゅよね。」

"We are so sorry that mommy didn't reply for comments for a long time. Please don't let this discourage you from trying to write a comment again."

「ママが長い間コメントの返信をしないままで、本当にごめんなさい。これに懲りず、またコメントを書いてくださいね。」

Mommy: "I'm so sorry..."

ママ：「すみません‥‥　よろしくお願いします。」

Please get well, daddy. 〜パパ、元気になってね〜

"What are you making, mommy?"

「ママ、何を作ってるんでしゅか？」

"Chamomile tea with grated ginger and honey. This is good for your daddy. He has a cold."

「ショウガをおろしてはちみつと合わせたカモミールティ。パパにいいかな、と思って。パパ、風邪をひいてるから。」

"Is he OK?"

「パパ、大丈夫？」

"I missed him on a walk yesterday. We walked with mommy, but she took only one dog at a time."

「きのうお散歩のとき、パパと一緒に行けなくてさびしかったよ。ママと行ったんだけれど、一匹ずつみんなバラバラに行ったんだ。」

"I enjoyed it, but...

「しょれはしょれで楽ちかったでしゅけど‥‥

I like to do exercise with everyone together."

やっぱりみんなで運動しゅるのが楽ちいでしゅよね。」

"Did daddy get to eat Osechi yesterday, mommy?"

「きのうパパ、おせち料理は食べられたんでしゅか、ママ？」

"Yes. There were some daddy's favorite dishes in Osechi."

「うん。おせち料理の中には、パパの好物もあってね。」

"He got to have some mochi soup as well."

「お雑煮も食べられたんだよ。」

※ mochi... rice cake 

"Daddy? Please take a break and sleep when you are sick."

「パパ？病気のときはちょっと休んで、ちゃんと寝てね。」

"That's right. You need to eat well, too."

「しょうでしゅよ。しっかり食べて下しゃいね。」

"I can share my peanut butter biscuits if you want to."

「パパが欲ちいって言うなら、わたちのピーナツバタービスケットをわけてあげてもいいでしゅよ。」

"Daddy? Please get well and play with us soon."

「パパ？はやく良くなって、またすぐ遊んでね。」

Opening of the new year 〜新年の幕開け〜

"Happy New Year!"

「あけまして、おめでとうございます！」

Mommy: "Another new year has started."

ママ：「新しい年が始まったね〜」

Mommy: "January 1st. New beginning. Nothing really changed in the house. Kona & Ehime, two Goldens want to hold the same toy at the same time, and Kahlua, the Sheltie wants other dogs to chase him. Same as always."

ママ：「１月１日。新しいスタート。でもうちの中では何も変わりなく‥‥。コナとえひめ、二匹のゴールデンレトリバーが同時に同じおもちゃを持ちたがり、シェルティのカルアが ’ぼくのこと追いかけて’ とせがむ姿。いつもとまったく同じ。」

Ehime: "I watched Japanese singing show, Kohaku last night."

えひめ：「きのうの夜、わたち、日本の紅白歌合戦を見まちたよ。」

Kona: "I saw mommy and daddy ate King crab and soba noodle. Japanese people eat soba noodle at the end of the year to wish a long life."

コナ：「ぼくは、パパとママが、キングクラブっていうカニとおそばを食べるのを見たよ。日本の人は、長生きできますようにって願って、年越しそばを食べるんだって。」

Kona: "They forgot the fact I'm a seafood guy, though..."

コナ：「でもパパとママ、ぼくがシーフード大好きってことを、忘れてたみたいだけれど‥‥」

Ehime: "They forgot on purpose, I say."

えひめ：「多分、わざと忘れてたと思いましゅよ。」

Ehime: "Daddy? We did a good job on being the photo, didn't we?"

えひめ：「パパ？わたちたちの写真撮影、うまくいきまちたよね？」

Daddy: "Umm... if you say so."

パパ：「あの‥‥　ま、えひめがそう言うなら。」

Kahlua: "I couldn't stay up late."

カルア：「ぼくはそんなに遅くまで起きてられなかったけど。」

Ehime: "I fell asleep on the way to climb up the couch."

えひめ：「わたちは、ソファに乗り上がる途中で力果てまちた‥‥」

Kona: "We usually see the fireworks from upstairs, but we stayed in the house this time for daddy. He's a little sick."

コナ：「いつもなら二階から花火を見るんだけれど、今回はおうちの中にいたんだよね。パパ、ちょっと風邪気味だから。」

Ehime: "It was still beautiful. We saw fireworks on TV, and we saw the actual fireworks through the windows at the same time!"

えひめ：「でもとってもきれいでちたよ。テレビで花火を見ながら、同時に、窓の外にも実際の花火が見えまちた。」

Mommy: "Look. Osechi is almost ready. Braised Pork Belly is going to be in the empty space. I'll make sushi when daddy gets up."

ママ：「見て。もうすぐおせち料理ができるよ。空いているところには、豚の角煮が入るの。パパが起きたら、おすしを作るわね。」

Kahlua: "We hope everyone is having a happy new year."

カルア：「皆様が良い新年を迎えていますように。」

Ehime: "We love you all♥ Please watch out when the Goldens get close to you."

えひめ：「みなしゃんのこと、大好きでしゅよ〜♥　ゴールデンレトリバーが近くに来るときには、ぜひ気をつけてくだしゃいね〜」

Kona: "You are the Golden, too."

コナ：「ひめたんもゴールデンレトリバーでしょ。」

Preparing Osechi 〜おせち料理の準備〜

"Mommy seems to be busy today."

「ママは今日、忙ししょうでしゅね。」

"Ah, that's because she's preparing for Osechi now."

「ああ、今、おせち料理の準備をしているんだよ。」

"What's Osechi?"

「おせち料理ってなんでしゅか？」

"That's a traditional Japanese New Year foods. In old time, they used to eat Osechi during New Years holidays, so that woman could have a little break from housework. Also, all the stores were closed."

「お正月に食べる、日本の伝統的なお料理だよ。昔はね、お正月休みの間、ずっとおせち料理を食べたんだって。女性が少しの間、家事をお休みできるしね。お店もみんな、閉まってたんだって。」

"Mommy decided to arrange the dishes from the traditional Osechi when she got to married to daddy, so that any American family members of her could enjoy Osechi."

「パパと結婚したとき、おせち料理の内容をちょっと変えることにしたんだって。アメリカ人の家族もみんな、おせち料理を食べられるようにって。」

"I saw she was marinading vegetables in the vinegary dressing."

「ママがお野菜をお酢のドレッシングに漬けているところ、見まちたよ。」

"And also, I saw she was making fried chicken."

「しょれから、チキンの唐揚げを作っているのも見まちた。」

"Mmm... can I steal some?"

「うーん‥‥　ちょこっと頂いてもいいしゅか？」

"Freshly fried chicken goes in the marinaded veggies. They are going to be soaked with lemon over night."

「揚げたてのチキンを、マリネしたお野菜の中に入れるんだ。レモンと一緒に、一晩漬け込むんだよ。」

"I don't have to wait over night."

「わたちなら、一晩も待たなくていいでしゅよ。」

"During lunch time, she cooked other vegetables called Onishime."

「ランチの間、お煮しめっていうお野菜も作ったんだよ。」

"Mommy is cooking too hard to remember my lunch time..."

「ママ、一生懸命お料理しすぎて、わたちのランチタイムを忘れてましゅ‥‥」

"I worked hard to be cute during lunch time. But I didn't get any salmon that they were eating for lunch. Shocked..."

「ぼくは、パパとママのランチの間、かわいいところを見せようと頑張ったけれど、結局二人が食べていたサーモンはもらえなかったよ。残念‥‥」

"Now, she's making Braised Pork Belly. She fried the meat on the frying pan for 5min, and now she's cooking them in the boiled water for one hour. She will add the sauce after that. It takes a long time to make the dish."

「今は、豚の角煮を作っているんだ。最初５分間フライパンで焼いて、お湯でゆでているところなんだよ。その後、味付けするんだ。時間のかかるお料理なんだよね。」

"I'm a senior dog. I can't wait that long."

「ぼくはシニア犬だから、そんなに長くは待てないよ。」

"It looks like it's going to take her a whole day to finish preparing Osechi." 

「おせち料理の準備、丸一日かかるみたいでしゅね。」
