Ehime's disease 〜えひめの病気〜

After picking up Ehime at the vet

お医者様のところでえひめのお迎えした後

Ehime: "Did you fasten your seatbelt, daddy?"

えひめ：「パパ、シートベルトを締めたでしゅか？」

Daddy: "I'm doing it right now."

パパ：「今やってる。」

Ehime: "Now, let's go home."

えひめ：「しゃあ、おうちに帰ろう。」

Daddy: "Why are you in such a hurry?"

パパ：「なんでそんなに急いでるんだ？」

Ehime: "Because I've got to drink the water, eat a biscuit, go bathroom, eat dinner, go bathroom and sleep when I get back home."

えひめ：「だって、おうちに帰ったら、お水飲んで、ビスケット食べて、トイレに行って、晩ごはん食べて、トイレに行って、寝なきゃいけないでしゅから。」

Daddy: "It's still 5:00pm. You have a lot of time before you go to bed."

パパ：「まだ午後５時だよ。寝るまでにたくさん時間があるじゃないか。」

Mommy: "I guess you were missing home so much. You spent a whole day at the vet today."

ママ：「きっとおうちが恋しかったのね。ひめたん、今日一日お医者様のところで過ごしたんだもの。」

Ehime: "I guess that's what I wanted to say."

えひめ：「まあ、しょういうことを言いたかったんでしゅよ。」

We just received the phone call from Ehime's vet. The test result from yesterday came back, and it shows that Ehime has Cushing Disease. To figure out if it's controlling by her brain or her organs, the vet wants to do the ultrasound next. 

たった今、えひめのお医者様から電話をいただきました。昨日の検査結果が返ってきて、えひめは、クッシング病だとわかりました。それが脳によって引き起こされているものなのか、臓器によるものなのかを調べるために、お医者様は、超音波をしたいとおっしゃいました。

It's understandable, but we are reaching out to our limitation physically and financially since we've been taking her to the vet about five times a month. I feel this situation is so cruel because we often have to make a decision between our money and Ehime's life.  At the end, we decided to take her in to the vet again tomorrow morning for the ultrasound. Let's see how it goes.

それは理解できるのですが、私たちはえひめを月に5回ほどお医者様のところに連れて行っているので、身体的にも経済的にも限界のところにきています。この状況は、とても残酷です。なぜなら私たちには、お金かえひめの命かを選ぶ決断を、頻繁にしなければいけないように思えるからです。最終的に、私たちは明日の朝、えひめを超音波検査に連れていくことにしました。様子を見てみたいと思います。

Stayiong home alone 〜ひとりでお留守番〜

 

Mommy: "Mmm? What are you doing in the corner space, Ma-kun?"

ママ：「んん？　マーくん、こんな端っこのスペースでなにしてるの？」

Makana: "Well, I just don't know what to do without my sister."

マカナ：「えっと、ねえたんがいないと、なにをすればいいのかわからないの。」

Mommy: "I understand. Ehime went to the vet for the test, and she is going to spend a whole day there. I'm sure you are missing her."

ママ：「わかる。ひめたん、検査のために病院に行ったからね。そこで一日過ごすし。マーくん、ひめたんがいなくて寂しいわよね。」

Mommy: "I feel bad leaving you at home alone, but mommy & daddy need to go out for work. Can you stay home for a little while and watch TV?"

ママ：「マーくんひとりをおうちに残していくのは心苦しいけれど、パパとママ、お仕事で出かけなければいけないの。テレビを見て、ちょっとおうちで待っててくれる？」

Makana: "Please come back soon."

マカナ：「早く帰ってきてね。」

What's tamale? 〜タマリってなに？〜

 

Ehime: "What's tamale?"

えひめ：「タマリってなんでしゅか？」

Mommy: "It's a Mexican dish made of masa. There will be a tamale festival in town today, and many people will come out. Both of you, please stay good, OK?"

ママ：「マサっていう粉でできたメキシコのお料理よ。今日は町でタマリフェスティバルがあって、たくさんの人が出かけてくるからね。ふたりとも、お利口さんにしててね。」

Makana: "I might bark when people don't give me attention..."

マカナ：「ぼく、かまってもらえないと鳴いちゃうかも‥‥」

Mommy: "Please do your best."

ママ：「できる限りがんばって。」

Haven't you forgotten something? 〜なんか忘れてない？〜

 

Mommy: "Let's clean you guys before we go to Bow-Wow Thursday at the tasting room."

ママ：「テイスティングルームでのバウワウサーズデーに行く前に、ふたりをきれいにしようね。」

Ehime: "Mgyu."

えひめ：「ムギュ。」

Mommy: "Your scabs are coming off now. So sorry you are losing your hair with them."

ママ：「ひめたんのかさぶたが、取れてきてる。毛も一緒に無くなっちゃって、ごめんね、ひめたん。」

Makana: "I don't have a lot of hair, either."

マカナ：「ぼくも、あんまり毛がない。」

Mommy: "That's your natural look. I wonder if you'll grow more hair in the future."

ママ：「それが、マーくんの自然な姿なのよ。将来、もっとふさふさしてくるのかしら。」

Mommy: "Phew, I'm tired after cleaning you two. Let's sit down for a little while."

ママ：「ふう。ふたりをきれいにしたら、疲れちゃった。ちょっと座ろうっと。」

Ehime: "Well, mommy. We haven't got the one that you normally give to us after cleaning."

えひめ：「えっと、ママ。きれいにちたあとくれるいつもあれ、まだもらってないんでしゅけど。」

Makana: "Oh, a biscuit. We haven't got one yet."

マカナ：「ああ、ビスケットね。まだもらってないよね。」

Mommy: "Oh, I've forgotten..."

ママ：「あ、忘れてた‥‥」

A night you can't sleep much 〜あまり眠れない夜〜

 

Ehime usually wakes up once or a few times during a night and asks us to take her out for bathroom. It was 12:50am when I first took her out and walked with her in the backyard last night. She usually has a problem to go back to sleep after that, so I laid down right next to her on the carpet when I put her in her bed just like I normally do.

えひめはたいてい、夜中１〜数回起きて、トイレに連れて行ってと頼みます。昨夜私が最初にえひめを連れ出し、裏庭で一緒に歩いたのは、夜12時50分でした。そのあとたいてい眠れないえひめ。いつもするように、えひめを彼女のベッドに寝かせ、私はその真横のカーペットの上で横になりました。

She often makes sure if I'm still there, so I tried to be very close to her as usual. After spending one hour with her, I quietly went back to bed to get some sleep. Ehime was not happy about it and she started to bark. I didn't want to wake my husband up, so I took her out for bathroom one more time, and laid down with her on the carpet again until she fell asleep. 

えひめはよく、私がまだそこにいるか確認するので、いつものようにえひめの本当にすぐそばにいるようにしました。そばで1時間過ごしたあと、私は少し寝ようと、静かに自分のベッドに戻りました。えひめはそれを嫌がり、鳴き始めました。私は主人を起こしたくなかったので、もう一度トイレに連れ出し、またえひめが眠りにつくまで、カーペットの上で横になりました。

Another one hour passed. It was already after 3:00am. I was exhausted and also hungry. Ehime seemed to be calm. So I moved to the different bedroom to catch some sleep. I believe I slept for three hours.

さらに1時間経ちました。すでに午前３時を回っていました。私は本当に疲れていて、おなかもすいていました。えひめは落ち着いているようだったので、私は別のベッドルームに行き、少し寝ることにしました。3時間ほど眠れたと思います。

Sunlight is a hope. 〜太陽の光は希望〜

 

Mommy: "I'm always wondering why our dogs are good at taking over my favorite spot. Sitting down on top of the warm blanket was my thing to do."

ママ：「いつも思うんだけど、犬たちって、どうして私の大好きな場所を取るのが得意なのかしら。温かいブランケットの上に座るの、私のすることだったのに。」

Makana: "Zzzz..."

マカナ：「Zzzz...」

Mommy: "But Ehime usually likes to find her own spot. She is enjoying sunbathing now."

ママ：「でもひめたんはたいてい、自分自身の場所を見つけるのが好きなのよね。今は、日光浴を楽しんでるし。」

Ehime: "Zzzz...."

えひめ：「Zzzz....」

Mommy: "It's going to be another sunny day. Just looking at the beautiful scenery like this, it makes me feel like small hard things don't matter."

ママ：「また新たなお天気の一日。こういう美しい風景を見ているだけで、ちょっとした大変なことはどうでもいいって気持ちになるわね。」
