Fireworks is scary. 〜花火は怖い〜

Makana: "Why are we out to the front yard?"

マカナ：「なんで前庭に出てきたの？」

Sachi: "For pee-wee?"

さち：「チッチのため？」

Daddy: "To see the fireworks."

パパ：「花火を見るためだよ。」

Sachi: "Fireworks!? Nooooo!!!! I was scared when Airbnb people nearby did fireworks yesterday."

さち：「花火！？　やだっっっっっっ！！！　昨日近くのエアビーアンドビーの人たちが花火をちたとき、わたち、怖かったもん。」

Daddy: "Ahhhh, calm down, Sachi."

パパ：「あああ、落ち着け、さち。」

Daddy: "Fireworks we are going to see tonight are very very far away. We don't even know if we can see from here. But isn't it nice to be out together during this summer night?"

パパ：「今夜見る花火は、ずっとずっと遠いところなんだよ。ここから見えるかさえもわからないんだ。でも、こんな夏の夜に、みんなでお外に出るのってなかなかいいだろう？」

Sachi: "I guess you are right."

さち：「まあ、そうかも。」

Happy 4th of July 〜7月4日、おめでとう〜

 

Mommy: "Stay still until I take a photo... OK! Happy 4th of July, guys!"

ママ：「写真を撮るまでじっとしててよ‥‥ はい！7月4日、おめでとう！」

Sachi: "Is this the special day, brother?"

さち：「にいにい。今日って特別な日なんでしゅか？」

Makana: "It's America's Independence Day."

マカナ：「アメリカの独立記念日だよ。」

Mommy: "It's also the day that mommy came to the mainland of America for the first time. It was 18 years ago."

ママ：「それに、ママが初めてアメリカ本土にやって来た日。18年前よ。」

Makana: "It's a beautiful story, but could you take this flag off from me now?"

マカナ：「それは美しい話しなんだけどね、そろそろぼくからこの旗、取ってくれない？」

Mommy: "Oh, sorry. I forgot about it."

ママ：「あ、ごめん。忘れてた。」

A little relaxing time 〜リラックスの時間を少し〜

Mommy: "Look, darling. The phone camera recently amazes me with how well it can show the stars when you take photos at night."

ママ：「パパ、見て。最近のケイタイのカメラってすごいわね〜　夜写真を撮ると、星がとってもよく見えるんだもの。」

Daddy: "This is a beautiful photo."

パパ：「これは、キレイな写真だなあ。」

Next morning　次の日の朝

Mommy: "When Goldens are sleeping nicely, we can relax a little bit."

ママ：「ゴールデンズがいい感じで寝てくれていると、私たち、ちょっとはリラックスできるわね。」

Daddy: "Like for 15 minutes, right?"

パパ：「それって、15分くらいのこと？」

さち：「離ちてくだしゃい。」

Makana: "No. I want to play with this, too."

マカナ：「やだ。ぼくだってこれで遊びたいもん。」

Sachi: "I'll give you a deal. If you leave this now, I'll ask mommy & daddy to give you chu-chu."

さち：「取引でしゅよ、にいにい。今これを離ちてくれたら、パパとママに言って、にいにいにチュッチュちてもらうから。」

Makana: "Oh, really?"

マカナ：「え、ホント？」

Makana: "You know my weak point."

マカナ：「さっちゃんってば、ぼくの弱点を知ってるんだから。」

Fresh eggs from chickens 〜にわとりたちからの新鮮卵〜

Sachi: "What are they?"

さち：「しょれ、なに？」

Mommy: "They are eggs. Chickens outside lay eggs, so I picked them."

ママ：「卵よ。お外にいるにわとりさんたちが卵を産んだから、いただいてきたの。」

Sachi: "They smell something different from me."

さち：「わたちとは、ちがうにおいがしゅる。」

Mommy: "Because they are a different animal. Isn't it amazing they lay eggs almost every day during the active season? And these eggs are very delicious."

ママ：「別の動物だからね。アクティブなシーズン中は、ほぼ毎日卵を産むなんて、すごくない？　そしてこの卵、本当においしいのよ。」

Sachi: "Delicious..."

さち：「おいちい‥‥」

Sachi: "I just want to hold an egg in my mouth for a second."

さち：「ちょっとだけ、お口に持ってみたい。」

Mommy: "No, no. You won't hold it, you'll eat it, right?"

ママ：「ダメ、ダメ。さっちゃんは持つだけじゃすまないもん。食べちゃうでしょ？」

Makana: "I agree with you, mommy."

マカナ：「ママに賛成。」

Sachi: "Awww..."

さち：「あううう‥‥」

Passing the examination 〜試験に合格〜

California now requires all alcohol servers to be certified. It may not be a big deal for people who can take the training and examination in their languages, but it was challenging for me to understand legal terms in English. 

カリフォルニア州は、アルコールをサーブする人全員に、資格を取るように要請しました。自分の言語でトレーニングや試験を受けられる人たちには大した問題ではないかもしれませんが、私にとっては、英語で法律用語を理解するのは、大変なことでした。

Also, California ABC website was very busy since everyone wants to be certified by the due date. But somehow, I passed the examination! I finally feel like I can enjoy wine myself.

それに、カリフォルニアABCのWebサイトは、期日までに資格を取りたい人たちで、大変混雑していました。それでもどうにかこうにか、試験に合格しました！ようやく私自身、ワインを楽しめるようになりました。

Sachi: "It was hard for me to be quiet while you were studying."

さち：「ママがお勉強している間、静かにちてるの大変でちたよ。」

Mommy: "Thank you, Sachi."

ママ：「ありがとね、さっちゃん。」

Makana: "I guess we can wrestle now, right?"

マカナ：「じゃあ、もうレスリングやってもいいよね？」

Mommy: "Umm, how aggressive are you two going to be?"

ママ：「あの、それ、どれくらいのわちゃわちゃになる？」

Isn't she heavy? 〜重くない？〜

 

Mommy: "Ma-kun has been patient, but Sachi. I think he probably feels heavy having you on top of him."

ママ：「マーくんは我慢してると思うけどね、さっちゃん。さっちゃんに上に乗られたら多分、重いって感じてると思うよ。」

Sachi: "I think it's OK. Brother Ma is very sweet to me. He won't get angry with me."

さち：「大丈夫だと思う。マーにいにいは、わたちにはとっても甘いでしゅから。わたちには、怒らないもん。」

Mommy: "You know him very well."

ママ：「マーくんのこと、よくわかってるのね〜」

Sachi: "Lets' take a nap together, brother Ma."

さち：「一緒にお昼寝ちよ、マーにいにい。」

Makana: "OK."

マカナ：「いいよ。」

Mommy: "You two are best friends, aren't you?"

ママ：「ふたりは、本当に仲良しさんね。」

Mommy: "The temperature went down at night. It feels good now."

ママ：「夜になって、気温が下がったわ。やっと心地よくなったわね〜」
