Mommy: "Bald vines, dry leaves on the ground and clouds covering the sky. Vineyard is sleeping for winter."

ママ：「はげた木のツル、地面に落ちた乾いた葉っぱ、空を覆った雲。ぶどう園が、冬の眠りに入ってる。」

 

Chicken A: "That's wasting time. We should go out and play when it's not too hot or cold."

にわとりA：「時間のムダ使いよ。暑すぎたり寒すぎたりしない時は、お外に出て遊ぶべきよ。」

Chicken B: "I agree."

にわとりB：「そうそう。」

Chicken C: "Oh, I found a bug."

にわとりC：「あ、虫見つけた。」

Mommy: "Oh, U-chan! Happy New Year. It has been a long time I saw you last time."

ママ：「あ、うーちゃん！あけましておめでとう。最後に会ってから、しばらく経つわね〜」

U-chan: "I'm a little shy. I like to come out when many people are not out there."

うーちゃん：「私、ちょっとシャイだから。あんまり人がお外にいないときに出てくるのが好きなの。」

Makana: "U-chan? Who was it?"

マカナ：「うーちゃん？　誰だったかな？」

Ehime: "U-chan is a wild bunny who lives under the shed on our property. She is older than you are."

えひめ：「うーちゃんは、うちの敷地の納屋の下に住む野うさぎしゃんでしゅよ。マーくんより年上なんでしゅよ。」

Makana: "Older than I am? Is she my sister, too?"

マカナ：「ぼくより年上？　あのうさぎさんもねえたん？」

Comparing the heights 〜背比べ〜

Chicken A: "I'm taller than you are. I won♪"

にわとりA：「私の方が背が高いわ。私の勝ちね♪」

Chicken B: "Ha!"

にわとりB：「はっ！」

Chicken B: "I'll concede..."

にわとりB：「参りました‥‥」

Chicken A: "Fu fu♪"

にわとりA：「うふふ♪」

Makana: "Oh, wow. They look like big when they stand like that."

マカナ：「わあ。にわとりさんたち、ああやって立つと大きく見えるね。」

Hana: "When are you going to grow up, mommy? I'm taller than you are now♪"

ハナ：「ママ、いつになったら成長するの？　もう、私の方が背が高くなっちゃった♪」

Mommy: "I wish I drank more milk when I was a child."

ママ：「子供のときに、もっとミルクを飲んでおけばよかったわ。」

Daddy: "Well, I think I'm the tallest of these three."

パパ：「まあ、この三人の中では、パパが一番背が高いんだけどね。」

Hana: "Hey. Please don't ruin my good mood, daddy."

ハナ：「もう、パパってば、せっかくいい気分だったのに、台無しにしないでよ〜」

Daddy: "Why are you laying down on the hay, Hana? Don't you want to eat?"

パパ：「ハナ。どうして干し草の上に寝転がってるんだ？　食べたくないのか？」

Hana: "I like to eat the hay while I'm laying down, so my neck feels better this way♪"

ハナ：「寝転がって干し草を食べるのが好きなの。こうすると、首が楽なんだもの♪」

Ehime: "I understand. I like to go in the vegetable garden, dig a hole and eat the organic soil occasionally."

えひめ：「わかりましゅよ。わたちは野菜畑に入って穴掘りちて、ときどきオーガニックの土を食べるのが好きなんでしゅよ。」

Mommy: "I wish you wouldn't do such things..."

ママ：「そういうの、しないでくれるといいのにな‥‥」

Happy New Year, 2021! 〜2021年、あけましておめでとう！〜

New Years Eve　大晦日

Mommy: "Sorry, darling. Since we had to cancel our annual trip to Las Vegas, we don't really have Japanese ingredients to make traditional New Years Eve food and New Years Day Osechi meal."

ママ：「パパ、ごめんね。恒例ラスベガスへの旅をキャンセルしなきゃいけなかったからね、うちの伝統の大晦日のごはんとお正月のおせち料理をを作る日本の材料がないの。」

Daddy: "No problem at all. We can still enjoy with the things we can find around home and at the local store."

パパ：「全く問題ないよ。家や地元のお店で見つけられるもので、ぼくたちは楽しめるから。」

Mommy: "For sure. Crab legs & champagne for dinner are gorgeous♪"

ママ：「確かに。晩ごはんにカニの足＆シャンペーンなんて、ゴージャス♪」

Daddy: "Only on New Years Eve, OK?"

パパ：「大晦日だけだからね。」

Mommy: "We can't make hot soba noodle soup, because we don't have tsuyu to make soup. I made some cold soba noodle salad instead."

ママ：「スープを作るつゆがないから、アツアツのおそばを作ることができないの。その代わり、冷たいおそばのサラダを作ったよ。」

Daddy: "I might like this one better than hot soba noodle soup♪"

パパ：「アツアツのおそばよりも、こっちの方が好きかも♪」

Mommy: "I'm glad you like it."

ママ：「そう言ってくれて、うれしいわ。」

New Years Day　お正月

Mommy: "Let's take a photo of us in front of the vineyard."

ママ：「ぶどう園の前で、写真を撮りましょ。」

Daddy: "OK. One, two, three♪"

パパ：「いいよ。いち、にーの、さん♪」

Mommy: "Umm... we can't see the vineyard much."

ママ：「あの‥‥　ぶどう園が、あんまり見えないね。」

Daddy: "Then, here."

パパ：「じゃあ、ここで。」

Mommy: "There is the shade on you."

ママ：「パパに影が映ってるよ。」

Daddy: "What about this?"

パパ：「じゃあ、これは？」

Mommy: "Perfect! I'm going to post this on the social media. Now, let's take a photo of Goldens."

ママ：「パーフェクト！　これをソーシャルメディアに投稿するわね。さあ、今度はゴールデンズの写真を撮りにいきましょ。」

Ehime: "So, you want us to sit like this?"

えひめ：「こうやって座ればいいでしゅか？」

Mommy: "I mean... Ma-kun is kind of far."

ママ：「なんか‥‥　マーくんが遠いね。」

Makana: "Am I?"

マカナ：「そう？」

Makana: "I come closer! Yay, yaaaaay!!!"

マカナ：「もっと近くに行きます！　イエイ、イエーーーーイ！！！」

Mommy: "Ahhhhhh, please don't move."

ママ：「あああああ、動かないで。」

Makana: "Woooooo!!! I can't stop myself!!!"

マカナ：「ウォーーーー！！！　自分を止められなーい！！！」

Ehime: "Oh, no... This is going to be the first bite of the year, 2021, isn't it...."

えひめ：「なんてこった‥‥　これ、2021年初のカミカミされるパターンでしゅよね‥‥」

The very first mochi making! No.2 〜初めてのお餅作り No.2〜

Makana: "You were cooking rice."

マカナ：「お米を炊いてたんだね。」

Daddy: "Not just cooking rice, but this machine can do more."

パパ：「お米を炊くだけじゃないぞ。この機械は、もっとできるんだ。」

Ehime: "Like making fried rice?"

えひめ：「チャーハンを作るとか？」

Daddy: "Not fried rice, but look. It's becoming the shape of a ball now. Almost there."

パパ：「チャーハンじゃないけど、見て。ボールの形になってきた。そろそろできあがりだよ。」

Makana: "Ball... Oh, rice ball. Mommy likes to eat them with salmon."

マカナ：「ボールって‥‥　ああ、おにぎりか。ママは、サーモンと一緒に食べるのが好きなんだよね。」

Ehime: "She doesn't usually use the machine to make rice ball. It must be something else."

えひめ：「ママはおにぎりを作るのに、機械を使ったりちないでしゅから。きっと他のものでしゅよ。」

Daddy: "Let's take it out."

パパ：「さあ、取り出そう。」

Ehime: "Why is it so stretchy?"

えひめ：「なんで、しょんなにのびのびなんでしゅか？」

Daddy: "This is called mochi. This is our first fresh mochi making at home."

パパ：「これは、お餅っていうんだ。おうちで、初めて新鮮なお餅を作ってるんだよ。」

Makana: "Oh, I now remember. That's the machine you two got for Christmas!"

マカナ：「あ、思い出した。あの機械、パパとママが、クリスマスに自分たち用にって買ったのだ。」

Daddy: "That's right."

パパ：「そうだよ。」

Mommy: "Daddy is in charge of cutting the mochi. I'm in charge of rolling. How do they look?"

ママ：「パパはお餅を切る役で、ママは丸める役。どう？」

Makana: "They look good."

マカナ：「いい感じ。」

Ehime: "But we dogs cannot eat them, right?"

えひめ：「でも、犬は食べられないんでしゅよね？」

Mommy: "I'm sorry. Now, darling. I made mochi soup and chocolate coated mochi. Let's eat lunch."

ママ：「ごめんね。さあ、パパ。お餅のスープとチョコレートコーティングのお餅を作ったわよ。ランチを食べましょ。」

Daddy: "Mmm, so good!"

パパ：「んん、とってもおいしい！」

Mommy: "Fried mochi for snack♪"

ママ：「おやつには、揚げ餅よ♪」

Daddy: "Wow, it's all about mochi today."

パパ：「わあ、今日はもちづくしだなあ。」

Mommy: "You are so cute❤︎ You are using the knife to measure rice perfectly♪"

ママ：「パパってば、かわいい❤︎　お米をきちっと測るのに、ナイフを使ってるんだもの♪」

Makana: "She said that daddy is cute."

マカナ：「パパ、かわいいんだって。」

Daddy: "He he♪"

パパ：「えへへ♪」

Makana: "By the way, sister. Why is daddy measuring the rice?"

マカナ：「ところで、ねえたん。どうしてパパが、お米を測ってるの？」

Ehime: "I'm not sure. But I suggest to sit nicely whenever they work in the kitchen."

えひめ：「わからないでしゅけど、二人がキッチンで何かちてる時は、きちんとおすわりちておくのがいいと思いましゅよ。」

Makana: "OK."

マカナ：「はい。」

Mommy: "I washed the rice a few times."

ママ：「数回お米を洗った、と。」

Mommy: "Now let's soak the rice in the water over night."

ママ：「さあ、一晩お水にお米を浸しておきましょ。」

Daddy: "12 hours, right? I can't wait."

パパ：「12時間だよね。待ち遠しいなあ。」

Next day　次の日

Mommy: "Let's dry the rice for 30 minutes."

ママ：「30分、お米を乾かしましょ。」

Ehime: "My six sense tells me that I won't get any food this time."

えひめ：「わたちの第六感が、今回は何の食べ物ももらえないって言ってるんでしゅけど。」

Mommy: "You have a good six sense."

ママ：「いい第六感だわね。」

Mommy: "It's the time to ask the machine to do the job. I put some water at the bottom of the machine. The steam should come out from there and cook the rice. And mochi rice will be done soon."

ママ：「機械にお仕事してもらう時がやって来たわね。機械の底にお水を入れたから、そこから蒸気が出て、お米を炊いてくれるはず。すぐにもちごはんが出来上がるわ。」

Mommy: "Turn it on. Wooo! I'm excited now!"

ママ：「スイッチ、オン。うううう！　ワクワクしてきちゃった！」

Makana: "I don't get excited at all. If you want to make something, why don't you bake bread? That's much more reasonable and delicious."

マカナ：「ぼくは、まったくワクワクしない。どうせ作るなら、パンを焼いてくれればいいのに。その方が、ずっと理にかなってておいしいのに。」
