At the end of the day after working hard 〜一生懸命働いたあと、一日の終 わりに〜

Mommy: "Look. Daddy is working hard in the vineyard. He is fixing the irrigation today."

ママ：「見て。パパ、ぶどう園で一生懸命頑張ってるよ。今日は、灌がい用水の修理だって。」

Mommy: "While daddy is in the vineyard, let's brush you guys."

ママ：「パパがぶどう園にいる間に、みんなのブラッシングをしよう。」

Kona: "Yay, yaaaay♪"

コナ：「イエイ、イエーーーイ♪」

Kona: "Oh, there. That feels good♪"

コナ：「ああ、そこ。気持ちいいな〜♪」

Mommy: "What are you doing over there, Ehime?"

ママ：「ひめたんは、そこでなにしてるの？」

Ehime: "I'm looking for a lizard."

えひめ：「トカゲしゃんを探ちてるでしゅよ。」

Kahlua: "I wonder what she is going to do with the lizard if she found one."

カルア：「えひめ、トカゲを見つけたら、どうするつもりなんだろうね〜」

Mommy: "Please don't scare me, Kahlua..."

ママ：「カルアくん、脅かさないでよ‥‥」

Ehime: "Is it my turn?"

えひめ：「わたちの番でしゅか？」

Mommy: "Not yet. I'm going to brush Kahlua next. How are you feeling, Kahlua?"

ママ：「まだ。次は、カルアくんをブラッシングするから。カルアくん、気持ちいい？」

Kahlua: "I feel good."

カルア：「気持ちいいよ〜」

Ehime: "Is it my turn yet?"

えひめ：「もう、わたちの番でしゅか？」

Mommy: "Ahhh! You are too close! OK, OK. Let's give you a brushing."

ママ：「あああ！近すぎるわ〜　わかった、わかった。ブラッシングしようね。」

Mommy: "How are you feeling, Ehime?"

ママ：「ひめたん、ブラッシング、気持ちいい？」

Ehime: "Fantastic♪ Can you do one one more hour?"

えひめ：「ファンタスティック♪　あと１時間お願い。」

Mommy: "Umm... I'm going to go see cows now."

ママ：「えっと‥‥　そろそろ、牛さんたちのところに行ってきます。」

At cows　牛たちのところで

Happy: "We got out from the pen."

ハッピー：「私たち、囲いから出してもらったの〜」

Joy: "Dinner time yet?"

ジョイ：「晩ごはん、まだ〜？」

Happy: "Mmm, the hay is delicious♪"

ハッピー：「ん〜、干し草っておいしい♪」

Mommy: "I did some cleaning at the pen. Happy's foster mommy who has been doing this for a long time, which is amazing because cleaning after the cows is hard."

ママ：「囲いのお掃除、終わった。これを長い間続けているハッピーちゃんの里親ママさんは、すごいわね〜　だって、牛たちのあとお掃除するの、大変だもの。」

To give a reward to ourselves for the physical work, my husband and I decided to BBQ the steak and sausages.

体を使って働いた私たち自身の労をねぎらおうと、主人と私は、ステーキとソーセージのバーベキューをすることにしました。

Daddy: "We are going to share the steak, right?"

パパ：「ステーキは、ふたりでシェアだよね？」

Mommy: "Yes, we are. I moved the table over there. Let's have a glass of wine♪"

ママ：「うん、シェアしよう。テーブル、こっちに持ってきたよ。さあ、ワインを一杯頂こう♪」

Daddy: "Both steak and sausages are doing good. You are going to cook some vegetables in the kitchen, right?"

パパ：「ステーキとソーセージ、なかなかいい感じだよ。お野菜は、ママがキッチンで調理するんだよね？」

Mommy: "Yes. I have snap peas, carrots and onions chopped already. Red potatoes are cooking in the oven now."

ママ：「うん。スナップ豆と人参と玉ねぎは、もう切ってあるよ。レッドポテトは、いまオーブンで焼いているところ。」

Daddy: "At the end of the day, just sitting with a glass of the wine & BBQ in front of the vineyard is such a reward."

パパ：「一日の終わりに、ぶどう園の前で、一杯のワインとバーベキューと一緒に座っていることが、なによりのごほうびだ。」

Ehime: "That's right. Just enjoying grazing in front of the vineyard at the end of the day is wonderful♪"

えひめ：「しょうでしゅね〜　一日の終わりに、ぶどう園の前で放牧を楽ちむのは、素晴らちい♪」

Kona: "Ehime, I found the new grass right here."

コナ：「ひめたん、ここ、新しい草を見つけたよ。」

Daddy: "Oh? The meat juice came out from this sausage."

パパ：「あれ？このソーセージから、肉汁が飛び出してる。」

Mommy: "It looks like he is going pee-wee."

ママ：「なんだかチッチしてるみたいね〜」

Daddy: "Right here?"

パパ：「ここ？」

Ehime: "That's right. You are a skilful masseur."

えひめ：「しょうしょう。パパは、 腕のいいマッサージ師しゃんでしゅね〜」

Kona: "Next, my turn."

コナ：「はい、次はぼく。」

Ehime: "Noooo! I haven't finished my turn!"

えひめ：「ダメーーー！わたちの番、まだ終わってないんでしゅから！」

Ehime: "Please move! That's my place!"

えひめ：「どいてくだしゃい！しょこ、わたちの場所なんでしゅから！」

Ehime: "Brother Kona! Please move!"

えひめ：「コナにい！どいてくだしゃい！」

Kona: "Ahhh, you!"

コナ：「あああ、もう！」

Kona: "Daddy is busy! If he takes a long time only for you, there is no time for me!"

コナ：「パパは忙しいの！ひめたんばっかりそんなに時間を取ってたら、パパがぼくのために使う時間がないでしょ！」

Ehime: "Ahhh! But I want a massage from daddy!"

えひめ：「あああ！でも、パパにマッサージちてもらいたいんでしゅよ！」

Kahlua: "While Kona and Ehime are busy, daddy, please give me a ..."

カルア：「コナとえひめが忙しくしている間に、パパ、ぼくに‥‥」

Ehime: "You can't cut in line, brother Kahlua."

えひめ：「横入りはダメでしゅよ、カルアにい。」

The reason I made the corn salsa the other day was to practice for the salsa contest at the grape growers party tonight. Thinking of the point that I want to improve, I started to make the corn salsa again.

先日コーンサルサを作ったのは、今夜開催される、ぶどう栽培者パーティのサルサコンテスト出品練習をしたかったからでした。改善したい点を踏まえながら、私はまた、コーンサルサを作り始めました。

Mommy: "This time, I'm going to usel more corn and add some chopped jalapeño peppers."

ママ：「今回は、コーンを多めにして、小さく刻んだハラペニョを入れてみよう。」

Mommy: "I don't want to grill the red onion too long, because I still want to leave some crunchiness."

ママ：「紫オニオンは、あまりグリルしすぎないほうがいいわね。まだカリカリとした食感を残したいから。」

Ehime: "Something smells good♪"

えひめ：「なんかいい香りがしゅる♪」

Mommy: "Chopped tomatoes are in the bowl."

ママ：「刻んだトマトは、ボールに入った、と。」

Mommy: "Corn kernels are shaved from the cob. Now, let's mix all the chopped veggies together and add the homemade lime dressing in."

ママ：「コーンの粒は、軸から削ぎ落として。さあ、刻んだお野菜を全部混ぜて、自家製ライムドレッシングを入れよう。」

Mommy: "Done. Oh, gosh! I have to feed dogs before we leave. It's almost 5:00pm!"

ママ：「あら、大変！出かける前に、犬たちにごはんをあげなきゃ。もうすぐ午後５時だわ！」

Daddy: "Thank you for letting us use your car to go to the party, Mr. G."

パパ：「パーティに行くのに、Gさんの車を使わせてくれてどうもありがとう。」

Mr. G: "No problem. Thank you so much for driving for me."

Gさん：「いやいや。ぼくの代わりに運転してくれて、どうもありがとう。」

Daddy: "Look, honey. The Mexican music band is playing."

パパ：「ママ、見て。メキシカンの音楽バンドが演奏しているよ。」

Mommy: "Tonight is the Mexican theme party♪"

ママ：「今夜は、メキシカンがテーマのパーティだものね♪」

Mr. G: "Oh, she is singing right next to me!"

Gさん：「ぼくのとなりで歌ってくれてる！」

When we entered the party, we got four tickets to vote. One for the salsa contest, one for guacamole contest, one for the white wine and the last one is for the red wine. Those are the tasting contest. The total 73 people voted for the thing they like by putting the tickets in.

パーティ会場に入るとき、投票用のチケットを４枚もらいました。１枚はサルサコンテスト用、１枚はワカモレコンテスト用、１枚は白ワイン用、最後の１枚は赤ワイン用です。これは、テイスティングコンテストです。合計73人の人が、自分が気に入ったものにチケットを入れることで投票をしました。

I brought my corn salsa for the salsa contest. My husband was excited to hear who won the first prize at the contest. That made me a little nervous even though I, as a Japanese girl who never had the Mexican food until I came to America, didn't think I was going to win. They announced the name for the winner and that was..... MINE!!!

私は、サルサコンテストに自分のコーンサルサを出品しました。主人は、コンテストの優勝者を聞きたくてワクワクしていました。アメリカに来るまでメキシカン料理を食べたことがなかった私が優勝するとはまったく思いませんでしたが、緊張してきました。そして発表された優勝者の名前は‥‥　なんと、私の名前でした！！！

MC lady: "Congratulations! Can you share the recipe with us? It's going to be in the newsletter of the grape growers.

司会の女性：「おめでとうございます！レシピを教えてくれますか？ぶどう栽培者用のニュースレターに掲載しますから。」

Mommy: "Oh, my gosh! Of course! Thank you so much!"

ママ：「本当ですか！もちろんです！ありがとうございます！」

Daddy: "Congratulations on your winning, honey! What did you get as a prize?"

パパ：「ママ、優勝、おめでとう！賞品は、なんだったの？」

Mommy: "I got one Cabernet 2010 and Syrah 2010 from the winery, Four Sisters. I'm so happy♪"

ママ：「ワイナリー、フォーシスターズのカベルネ2010年ものと、シラー2010年ものよ。とってもうれしいわ〜♪」
