Speaking of animals 〜動物と言えば〜

Kona: "Mmm? Where is daddy going?"

コナ：「ん？パパ、どこに行くんだろう？」

Mommy: "He is probably looking for a proper branch."

ママ：「適当な枝を探しているんじゃないかな。」

Kona: "Why?"

コナ：「なんで？」

Kona: "Oh, he went to the back of the car."

コナ：「あっ、後ろに行った。」

It doesn't mean we hit it by car. But we saw one squirrel who was almost dying on our drive way. Hundreds (or even thousands!) of wild ground squirrels dig the hole in the ground and live in this neighborhood. We cannot control their life and death in their wildlife, but we know we shouldn't leave the animal on our driveway. My husband pushed the squirrel to the side of the driveway using the branch and let nature take care of it.

私たちが車でひいてしまったわけではありません。でも、我が家のドライブウェイに、死にかけているリスを見つけました。このご近所には、何百（もしくは何千）というジリスが地面に穴を掘って暮らしています。私たちは、こういう野生生物たちの生と死をコントロールすることはできませんが、自分たちのドライブウェイにその動物を残しておくべきでないことはわかります。主人は枝を使ってドライブウェイの横までそのリスを持っていき、あとは自然にお願いすることにしました。

Mommy: "I'm not trying to control you, but I will be happy if you live for a long time, Kahlua."

ママ：「カルアくんのことをコントロールしようとしているわけではないんだけれど、カルアくんが長く生きてくれるとうれしいな。」

Kahlua: "I'll do my best♪"

カルア：「がんばります♪」

Ehime: "I'll try to live for a long time, too. So please give me a biscuit for energy♪"

えひめ：「わたちも長生きしゅる努力をちましゅからね。そのエネルギー用にビスケットを一枚くだしゃい♪」

Mommy: "Good try, but not now. You just had breakfast."

ママ：「説得力はあるけど、今はダメ。朝ごはんを食べたばっかりだから。」

Speaking of animals, our chickens had some thrilling time yesterday. We bought a shed to keep some tools for the vineyard, and some various things for chickens and cows. The worker came over yesterday and built the shed.

動物と言えば、我が家のにわとりさんたちは昨日、スリルな時間を過ごしました。私たちはぶどう園で使う道具や、にわとり＆牛用の様々なものを納めておく納屋を購入しました。昨日作業員さんが来てくれて、その納屋を建ててくれたのです。

Mommy: "Chickens are probably scared of the sound of building the shed. No one wants to come out from the coop."

ママ ：「にわとりさんたち、多分、納屋を建てる音が怖いのね。誰も小屋から出てこないわ。」

Worker: "Drill right here."

作業員さん：「ここにドリルして、と。」

Worker: "After this, I'm going to work on the roof."

作業員さん：「このあと、屋根を作りますから。」

Because it was so stressful for chickens yesterday, they went out and took a long walk today.

昨日はにわとりさんたちにとって、とてもストレスな時間だったので、今日は外に出て、長いお散歩をしました。

Chicken A: "This way♪"

にわとりA：「こっちよ〜♪」

Chickens: "Yay, yaaaaaay♪"

にわとりたち：「イエイ、イエ〜〜〜イ♪」

Chicken B: "Can we eat this grass?"

にわとりB：「この草、食べられるかしら？」

Chicken C: "We can try then we will know."

にわとりC：「食べてみればわかるわよ。」

Speaking of animals, Joy is growing bigger and bigger by drinking milk from Happy. Because he drinks a lot of milk, I don't get much milk these days. Well, the milk is supposed to be for Joy. I'm OK with it.

動物と言えば、ジョイ。ハッピーのミルクを飲んで、すくすく育っています。たくさんミルクを飲むので、最近私まであまりミルクがまわってきません。まあ、ミルクはジョイのためのものですからね。大丈夫です。

Joy: "I'm getting better on heading. Can I try on you?"

ジョイ：「ぼくね、頭突きが上手にできるようになってきたの。試してもいい？」

Mommy: "Umm, no thank you. I had enough in the past."

ママ：「あの、結構です。もう以前に十分してもらったので。」

Mommy: "Eat well, and produce a lot of milk, Happy♪"

ママ：「ハッピーちゃん、たくさん食べて、たくさんミルクを出してね〜♪」

Happy: "I'll do my best."

ハッピー：「がんばります。」
