Walking on the treadmill for the first time 〜初めてトレッドミルで歩く〜

Daddy: "It's been a week since we walked around this park."

パパ：「この公園を歩くのは、一週間ぶりだな〜」

Mommy: "Don't walk on the rocks, Ehime. You might get awe again."

ママ：「ひめたん、石の上は歩かないでね。またイタイイタイになるかもよ。」

Ehime: "Rodger."

えひめ：「了解。」

Summer in Las Vegas is extremely hot! By the time I finish walking with my three dogs, the temperature gets very high and there is no way to walk with Leo & Sophie after that. So Leo's & Sophie's mommy bought a doggie treadmill. Yay! Well, Day 1 on the treadmill is always challenging for both dogs and human...

ラスベガスの夏は、極端に暑い！私がうちの三匹の犬たちのお散歩を終える頃には気温がとても高くなっていて、その後レオくんとソフィちゃんのお散歩に行くことができません。それでレオくんとソフィちゃんのママさんが、犬用のトレッドミルを購入してくれました。やった〜！えっと、でも、トレッドミルの第一日目は、犬たちにとっても人間にとっても努力が必要です。

Mommy: "Good job, Leo♪ You got on the treadmill. Now, I'm going to start the machine. You just walk, OK? No need to panic."

ママ：「レオくん、えらい♪　ほら、トレッドミルに乗ってるよ。さあ、スタートさせるからね。レオくんは歩いてね。パニックにならなくていいから。」

Leo: "I don't know if I can..."

レオ：「できるかな‥‥」

First 10 min with Leo was just OK. We were seeking the way that we both can be comfortable. And we found it! Leo likes to be close to my face, and he likes to lick my face if he has a chance. So I moved myself forward and got close to Leo's face. Then he started to walk well.

レオくんとの最初の10分は、まあまあでした。レオくんも私も、お互いどうすれば快適にできるかを探っている感じでした。そして見つけました！レオくんは、私の顔に自分を近づけるのが好きで、チャンスがあれば私の顔をペロペロしたいようでした。それで私は前に乗り出し、レオくんに近づきました。するとレオくんは上手に歩き出したのです。

Mommy: "You are doing great, Leo! I'm going to turn up the speed, OK?"

ママ：「レオくん、すごい！スピードを上げてみるね。」

Leo: "OK."

レオ：「わかった。」

Having Sophie on the treadmill was much harder than Leo. The first 10 min with her was struggling. She wanted to get off the treadmill, or sit while the machine was working. The only thing I could get her to move forward with was food. But I realized she didn't want to take it after a little while. 

トレッドミルにソフィちゃんを乗せることは、レオくんを乗せるよりずっと大変でした。最初の10分はドタバタでした。ソフィちゃんはトレッドミルが動いているのに降りたがるし座りたがるし。たったひとつソフィちゃんを前に向かって歩かせることができたのは、食べ物を見せたときだけでした。でもそれも、長くは続きませんでした。

Sophie: "What are you doing to me!!!!!"

ソフィ：「私になんてことするの！！！！」

Sophie: "I'm getting off!!!!"

ソフィ：「私、降りる！！！！」

Luckily I found a way for Sophie to feel comfortable on the treadmill. She likes to get petted! So I stopped giving her food and started to pet her face. She enjoyed it and started to walk well. They both did 20 min on the treadmill today.

ラッキーなことに、ソフィちゃんがトレッドミルの上で快適にいられる方法を見つけました。ソフィちゃんは、なでなでしたもらうのが好きなんです！私は何度も食べ物を見せることを止め、ソフィちゃんのお顔を撫で始めました。ソフィちゃんは喜んで、上手に歩き始めました。今日はレオくんもソフィちゃんも、トレッドミルで20分歩きました。

Sophie: "That was some excise, wasn't it, Leo?"

ソフィ：「レオ、結構運動したわよね？」

Leo: "I agree."

レオ：「そうだね。」 

Ehime: "Treadmill in the morning... That's tiring."

えひめ：「朝のトレッドミル‥‥　しょれは疲れましゅね。」

Kona: "I think that taking a nap in the sun is the best thing to do in the morning."

コナ：「朝は、太陽の下でお昼寝するのが一番だと思うけどな。」

Kahlua: "I can't keep my eyes open..."

カルア：「ぼく、目を開けていられない‥‥」
